For Miranda Kadohata; I was kinda picturing Thandie Newton(Brit accent comes as standard extra)
Odd, since she's African-British, and Kadohata is Japanese-British. I'm with Keith that the actress who starred in Battlestar Galactica: Razor would be a fine choice -- well, if she were a decade or so older.

My thought for Bart Faulwell wasDerek Jacobi.
Interesting thought, but he's way too old, unless you're imagining him from the '80s, say.

Yeah,Jacobi as a younger man.I seem to remember him playing wartime British cryptographer Alan Turing in an audio production and given Faulwell's job,I made a mental connection.
As for Kadohata's ethnicity, perhaps I missed an overt reference to it as I and many others did with DS9 character LT.Bowers.
In the 24 th century as now, nationality and ethnicity will be fluid.

Fans of the band "Lush" will recognize another good candidate for Kadohata. (Hint: The lead singer.)

I assume you mean Miki Berenyi?

I can't find a good picture of her on the web, but the pictures I have found seem like she's a good possibility. I still lean toward Stephanie Jacobsen.....

For Mranda, what about the actress who plays Tosh in Torchwood? British Japanese, IIRC.

I usually whine when people suggest casting actors from other sci-fi shows, but TW isn't a space opera, so I can cope with her.

For some reason, I can't make Naoko Mori fit into how I wrote Kadohata. Not sure why. *shrug*

But she's a good choice too, yeah.

Put it this way, the reason why I'm harping on Stephanie Jacobsen is that I spent the entire time I was watching Battlestar Galactica: Razor boggling at how absolutely perfectly she fit my mental picture of Kadohata.

Whereas I spent the entire time boggling at how absolutely gorgeous she was. Although I agree that she'd be a great Kadohata if she were 10-15 years older. (Maybe Miranda looks very young for her age?)

They may have done a "sorta" casting based on a novel. In TNG's "Face of the Enemy", The Romulan Commander in that episode seems to be based Commander Ael in Diane Duane's "My Enemy, My Ally". She wasn't a cookie cutter disposable hostile.

To KRAD: Who would you cast as Captain Gold of the USS Da Vinci? I know this thread has 44 pages and I haven't read all of them. I keep picturing Jerry Orbach of Law and Order filling that role.

There's a very useful function on this board with witch you can search in single threads like this one. I found this post when I searched for Gold in this thread.

I've just started SCE and I was curoious if KRAD or any of the other authors involved had a fantasy cast for it?
Well, the obvious ones are Lycia Naff for Gomez, Jay Baker for Stevens, Bari Hochwald for Lense, Charley Lang for Duffy, James Doohan for Scotty, Katy Boyer for Soloman, and Nikki Cox for Sarjenka, since they're all who played those characters on screen (or, in Boyer's case, played another Bynar). And yes, I know that Naff is retired from acting and Doohan's dead, but I don't care.

As for the others, here's my fantasy cast:

Gold: Harry Morgan (another one who's retired from acting, but the template for Gold is Colonel Potter)
Tev: John Rhys-Davies
Abramowitz: Maura Tierney
P8 Blue: voice of Tress MacNeille
Corsi: Marjorie Monaghan
Hawkins: D.B. Woodside
Barnak: Nicholas Campbell
Conlon: Jaime Ray Newman
Wong: Terry Chen
Salek: Phil Morris

The rest of the crew I have mental images for, but no particular actor in mind.

I still think Judd Hirsch would make a great Gold.

Well, Jerry Orbach has the distinct disadvantage of being dead. Having said that, he might've been able to pull it off.

But the template for Gold has always been Harry Morgan's portrayal of Colonel Sherman Potter on M*A*S*H, only Jewish.

Re: Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

How about Jessy Schram for Christine Vale?

She played Hannah (Logan's girlfriend) in Veronica Mars and Susan Davis in the Jane Doe film series. She is a bit too young, but that's not really an issue in the 24th century since she could be forty and look like twenty.

She looks hot and can sing too, perfect for when Riker plays his trombone.

Speaking of which, why hasn't he done so yet on board Titan??
