Vanguard's USS Sagittarius.

After years of sitting on my shelf, I've decided to read ST Vanguard : Reap The Whirlwind. Looking at the cover I noticed that the Saggitarius could easily evolve into the Intrepid class(Voyager). I don't suppose there is any link.

The Saggitarius is a lot (make that A LOT) smaller than the intrepid class.

I don't think there's any link.

Closer to the Defiant in scale and scope than Intrepid, IMO. Heck, more like a beefed up runabout than anything else.

Love the Archer-Class.

There was an early Defiant design when they were looking at the "souped-up runabout" idea that would be a fitting descendant to the Archer.

This is funny, I'm also currently reading Reap the Whirlwind and was thinking of starting a thread with this title, but for a completely different reason...

Is Sagittarius the spiritual ancestor to Titan or what? Has there been a more diverse crew in Treklit for such a small contingent? Human, Deltan, Denobulan, Vulcan, Saurian, Andorian, Caitian.

^ Don't forget the Tiburonian (and, later on, a Trill, an Orion, and a Kaferian).

When I was asked to draw this ship for the books, I was suggested to base it on my Capella class ( http://www.starfleet-museum.org/capella.htm ), which hadn't even been completed yet. I thought that design wouldn't be good enough for a ship that has too act like a fast station wagon, so I offered to modify my Paris class ship ( http://www.starfleet-museum.org/paris.htm ). No thought was applied to the Intrepid class.
