I liked the honeycomb bussard collector texture better. is there anyway to make a version that has the honeycomb texture in 3D with proper lighting?

That may look better then just a flat surface, otherwise it looks good.

My intention is to restore the honeycomb pattern, though it will still be fairly subtle from a distance.

Funny you mention that. I spent an hour or so last night decreasing the segmentation around the bussard area and generally tweaking some of the shapes and contours. Can't post any new WIPs at the moment but I'll try to get something more online by tomorrow showing the improvements.

She's incredible, Vektor!

I must say, the bussards look rather enticing as they are. Personally, I think they could actually do without the honeycomb texture.

Without sounding ignorant what do you guys mean by the honeycomb texture? You may be making the same suggestion I was going to make, but I'm not sure... I was going to suggest adding a bit of gaseous swirl to the red. You may be purposefully artistically doing that, and they look gorgeous as is, but just thought it might be something to try

We're getting down to extreme nitty gritty details at this point. (good thing!)
