Looks more like the one from The Blackhole to me.
The only thing I'd suggest is that you should change the colour of the ship cut-away as the white on black is too high a contrast and makes it difficult for the eye to pick-u details. There's a good reason the show's MSDs were done in shades of orange and purple.

Yeah...I saw that, but it didn't look like anything in particular to me. And I agree, the white on black is a bit rough on the eyes.

Not at all. In fact, I should have some new WIPs to show some time this weekend.

Re: USS Grandeur - One... More... Time!

Okay, here's a tiny bit of progress to show.

As you can see, I am using a different rendering technique, what is commonly referred to as a "clay rendering" using nothing but a skylight and a single diffuse texture. The main reason I'm doing this is because the directional lights were making it hard to judge the alignment between certain parts like the nacelles and the support pylons. I spent a day or so trying to match some adjacent contours only to discover the angle of the shadows was tricking me into thinking they were out of alignment when they really weren't. It also really brings out the details of the mesh.

Not everything I've done recently is shown in these renderings. I've also been working on some detailing of the secondary hull, but I don't want to show any of that until I get further along. Might have some more WIPs to post before the weekend is out but no promises.

Great post!!

I rather like the "RCS Thrusters" on the top aft fin of each nacelle... that should keep the equalibrium balance in the thrust and even act as a type of mini impulse engine of sorts.

VERY NICE WORK!

Freakin' awesome Vektor! Just a simply amazing model so far. I especially love the warp engines, how all the lines on them flow. What is that detail supposed to be on the back of the engine?

Hey, VEK... there's a little dot in each pic you posted... almost like a star, do you see it? It's some sort of object... it moves in conjunction with the angle/rotation of the model.

Is the little blue guy throwing his pizza boxes off the hull of the ship again, I thought he quit that a while back?!

Maybe it IS the little blue guy... he slipped and is now caught in the "wake".

Anyway, as always -- Looks bloody AWESOME, Sir Vektor!

Cheers,

Nah, it wasn't the Little Blue Guy this time. We decided to let the Little Red Guy out to stretch his legs a bit and he promptly got zapped by some alien cosmic ray. We think the little dot is the helmet from his space suit.

The only thing that would make this last view perfect, is if the Blackfoot was flying out of its hanger bay, I think that would be awesome

Let me be the first to say it... once you finish this off, get it turned into a high-resolution STL format file and get someone who does castings make copies of the stereolithographic master. I'd recommend something about 12" to 14" in length, max... which ever "standard scale" that best fits to.

I'd buy it. I'm sure a lot of other folks would go to Federation Models (or wherever) and do the same.
