It's neat, but LCARS seems rather bulky to me.
Thanks, Admiral. The fictional LCARS might be if it were on one computer, but in the Star Trek scenario, how many terminals do you see per room? I have a Windows comupter sitting on a desk and my LCARS thing on a shelf in some places or on the same desk in others. Everything my LCARS computers do they do instantly. If I want to see what time it is anywhere in the world, that only takes one keypress. In a bedroom, the LCARS thing mainly serves as an alarm clock and nightlight (it's always on). You can shut off the alarm blindfolded. It's nothing like a mouse-operated system. The screenshots pretting much indicate all that. In any case, it's a lot faster than Windows in everything it does. It's nothing like a mouse-operated system. It even has a shorthand word processor.

I guess the concept is foreign to most people, because they're used to one machine with Windows. But what I'm doing is true to Michael Okuda's original concept, which I respect and am trying to keep alive and perhaps prove has some merit. All it takes is a junk laptop and a free download. I have it on computers that would otherwise have been thrown away and some that actually were thrown away.
I sometimes run it under XP, but it's not very useful like that.

It works and works well. Ask any Starfleet officer. But mine has meaningful labeling instead of meaningless numbers, as you can see. Unlike a toy phaser, this is a piece of Star Trek that's fully functional.

Oh bulky, meaning the computers on Voyager were like stained-glass windows?

A Voyager Tribute [image]http://www.lagcentral.org/forums1/images/smiles/party048.gif[/image]
I don't suppose you could put together a video that's a whole new 45-minute episode in this lifetime. We should all love to see it.

Okay, but this is something many of us could only dream about in the 1970s after TOS was cancelled the second time at the same time man first landed on the moon.

But with the equipment you've got now, one part of it is a lot easier, and you've got a lot more existing footage of Voyager than there ever was of TOS. What's left is some impressionists to do the voiceovers, not to mention a script that doesn't require any new guest stars and pretty much conceived with knowledge of what footage you've got to work with. At least it's not an expensive thing like New Voyages. In the 1970s it couldn't have been done without permission from Paramount and probably cooperation.

If you need help, I'm sure there are plenty of volunteers on this forum!

Heh, I probably wont be able to do it, until I get back from Alaska in September... maybe some of the other talented videoists can start it and I can jump in when I get back?

Re: Voyager fanfics and creations

Have a nice trip. It would be better if a group worked on this, but it sure seems worthwhile. How valuable would it be to have one more Voyager episode? Just pick the best bit of fan fiction you can find and get whatever help you need. You would still need people who can do voices if the goal is to make it like a real episode. But any successful fanflick works toward shaming Paramount into getting their heads on straight, right?

(gee! i'm actually nervous! lol)

Oh what the heck! I'm a new writer (started 7 weeks ago),came across a J/C contest called 'Dakota's Decathalon' and thought I'd give it a try. My fic is shippy but definitely scifi. Some J/C writers beta'd my work and helped me get it on the net. Guess I put it there to be read so here it goes:

uh, just skip the haiku, eh? It was part of the contest. Check out anything else. "Tuvok's Idea" is my current fav.

Sazzy say umm when will you be doing a Season 6 video? I've got all the other ones and thanks to you I had the Indiana Jones theme song stuck in my head for 3 hours after watching the season 4 one. But I need season 6 to add to the collection, after all Janeway just got shot in the season 5 one I need closure!

In otherwords the people (umm I mean me) a desperate to know when season 6 special vid will be able to be viewed
