I know. For the lighing to be better the ship should be facing the other way, but this conveyed the idea of the ship on approach to the terrestrial moon. Hey, it's TOS--it's the thought that counts.

Encountering a new race from that terrestrial satellite...

I recently watched The Alternative Factor again and I knew I just had to use that shot:

The Enterprise disables a Klingon Bird of Prey.

Erm...KLINGON Bird-of-Prey? That there is a Romulan ship, my friend.
Sadly, The Alternative Factor is one of the TOS episodes I HAVEN'T seen. Do they disable a Klingon ship in it? If so, is it refered to as a BOP?

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

It's a retcon After all, the Romulans did obtain Klingon designs, it seems logical the Klingons obtained their Bird-of-Prey design, and it doesn't seem too unlikely that they'd give it a nice coat of green paint.

The (IMHO magnificent shot) of the Enterprise firing phasers is from The Alternative Factor.

The Romulan Bird-of-Prey was taken from Balance of Terror. I hope that answers your questions

No they don't disable a Klingon ship in "The Alternative Factor" episode. It is the episode where Lazarus from our universe is trying to kill his duplicate from an anti-matter universe. I believe the original picture you see was of the Enterprise firing on Lazarus'es ship on a planet's surface. Here is a link to "The Alternative Factor".

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up. I guess it makes sense that the Romulans gave the Klingons Birds of Prey in exchange for D7 cruisers. Afterwards both parties started building ships based off the other's design, hence Klingon BOPs and later Romulan ships like the V'Teridix class and D'Deridix class warbirds, which resemble the Klingon style of design.

I like this design a lot - shows an intermediate step between the Romulan D7s and later TNG warbirds:

Sorry to have to do this, gang, but it's about time we closed this thread and opened a new one. Once they rack up 1,000 replies or so, they start to become a bit cumbersome for the database.

Warped9, you're perfectly welcome to open a Part Two thread if you wish. It's been a heckuva cool ride and here's hoping it continues!
