Agreed. You've demonstrated, Laviano, what can be accomplished without all the bells and whistles (which I also love, but don't have)

One thing I think TOS could have done better was to make maximum use of the available stock footage.

For example here, I took this shot from"The Doomsday Machine" of Decker flying away from the Enterprise and composited a still from the End credits of "The Cage" I also scaled down some of the stars.

Some simple stockfootage could be made to look 100% new with the melding of other stockfootage.
Nice one!

And since Warped9 helped out with this one I thought I'd post it here.

It would have been nice if they could have used a different ship design for the Defiant in "The Tholian Web."

Post TMP. The Enterprise encounters an odd spatial rift that deposits them into a strange alternate universe...

The Anderson company probably could have done something to an AMT kit. What would that have cost? $20?

W9 Why didn't you add the green around the Defiant?

^^ I was able to make it look like it was fading but the clouding effect wouldn't come out the way I wanted it. I'll give it another try.

I think that could have been the intention, before they replaced the USS Scimitar with the Constitution class USS Defiant!!

Great picture!

This is a retouch of an earlier image. Spock converses with a visiting Fleet Captain Pike aboard an orbital complex on the eve of the refit Enterprise embarking upon her 5-year voyage...

Enterprise and Kirk leaving the Sol system on their five year journey. Kirk mentions to Bones that it took "Voyager" years to reach Saturn...

This is a composite of the Enterprise from DS9 and Saturn from a picture from Voyager.

Spock desperately tries to deflect the asteroid in "The Paradise Syndrome".

Enterprise is from DS9, moon, Earth, sun, and asteroid are courtesy of Nasa ; )

Hehe! Could it perhaps be a screencap taken from the real 1982 sequel to ST:TMP, namely Star Trek II: Kitumba, produced by Gene Roddenberry & Jon Povill, written by John Meredyth Lucas, and directed by Douglas Trumbull?

[Edit]

Actually, if you multiply the number of K't'inga's by about a factor of thirty and add an alien M-Class world to the background, you would have a fairly convincing approximation of the NCC-1701 Refit going nose-to-nose against Malkthon's fleet in orbit above The Sacred Planet.
