Nope, I'm pretty sure the plan is just to keep coming to them and raising these issues when they come up. You do realize you're posting to a public forum where people can do that, right?

Oh, I can assure you I'm laughing right now.

One "n" in "puritanical," just for future reference. I'm here to help.

Kind of looks like a Hispanic Celine Dion, so, thumbs down, obviously.
Not sure if racist or not a fan of Celine Dion or not a fan of Canadian singers.
French Canadian singers are obviously the problem here. Who could hate all Canadian singers after giving one of William Shatner's albums a spin?

I don't know Gaith, but I'm neither claiming a Moral High Ground nor maturity here. I'm being a normal guy who enjoys irreverent wise cracks, sexual innuendo, and thinks both perfectly fine in the spirit of a thread titled "Babe of the Week" - and incidentally would feel the same about a Hunk of the Week thread. I know some women who are raunchier than many men.
Oh, here we go again.

Another of those men who hasn't yet noticed that it's not a level playing field even if women would occasionally exhibit a similar behaviour as sexist men.

There just isn't a comparable tradition of objectification, sexism, inequality and oppression as a structural issue in our society that targetted men.

It's like white people totally not noticing their privilege and then claiming racism against white people is just as much of an issue as racism that targets black people.

Now you can either keep your shallow perspective and dismiss reality or you could try and reconsider your position. That would include giving up your "Wah, wah, nasty PC people"-shtick, though.

Good for you.

I'm being a normal guy who enjoys irreverent wise cracks, sexual innuendo, and thinks both perfectly fine in the spirit of a thread titled "Babe of the Week" - and incidentally would feel the same about a Hunk of the Week thread.
Naturally, you imply that any man who doesn't enjoy making raunchy comments about women is somehow abnormal. In any case, these threads tend not to be filled with "wise cracks [and] sexual innuendo" but rather gross entitlement, e.g. "I'd fuck her" and the like. There's nothing cracking wise in that statement, nor could you call it "innuendo" since it's so in-your-face. It's just juvenile.

I know some women who are raunchier than many men.
Yeah, well, call me when men have to deal with the constant parade of sexist behaviors that women do.

Seriously, if these threads offend thee, move on to another, or petition the mods to abolish them. They're clearly meant as fun, not as a place for activism and protest.
If you find degrading women "fun," maybe you should move on and find another place to do it.

And no one is changing anyone's mind by complaining.
This is untrue.

Jennifer Esposito is very pretty, and her work to raise awareness of Celiac's disease is admirable. I am not a big fan of her work as an actress. But thumbs up anyway, because I doubt that Ms. Esposito is affected in any way by my judgment.

Exactly so. This would be a good opportunity for TrekBBS posters to learn more about that:

I'd like people to learn about it so they'll realize "gluten-free" isn't the latest ridiculous health fad but a thing people with celiac disease actually need to live.

I actually didn't know that.

Wait, did I just learn something from a BOTW thread?

Everyone has different standards on what they find attractive. What one person may want to take a second look at, another person may not even notice.

Personally, I don't think Celine Dion is an attractive woman. I'm sure there are lots of people out there that think she is.

Well, haven't had any problems with menstruation, so I guess I'm safe.

Everyone has personal preferences, but it's in bad taste to go around talking about who isn't attractive enough for you. It also feeds into a lot of serious issues that girls and women have been dealing with for a long time.
