Neon Genesis Evangelion and Robin Williams.

Reportedly he was a fan of this depressing show, and fought with the producers of One Hour Photo to get an Evangelion toy featured in the movie.

Anybody else think it might have been a contributing factor to his depression?

It is absolutely not a contributing factor. The creator of that series was himself suffering from depression and used it as an outlet to combat it.

Let me just hammer that one right now before it gains any attention on the web and ends up in some cheap ass paper.

It is not.

TV shows do not cause clinical depression. That's fucking stupid.

Well, that's an interesting connection. Both the anime and Robin are associated with depression. And Gundam's Tomino.

I could see where one dealing with depression could relate with Shinji, Rei and all but I don't think it would make one depressed.

There are other ways to express to us that you dislike the show.
