Congrats are in order. Was curious -- did you guys have any trouble filming this, as it appears to be on a small town street? Gawkers, passersby? Permits?

Re: Star Trek ~ Project Potemkin "Ashes" S02-D NOW ON-LINE

A permit was required by the City of Americus, but they waived all fees when we told them we didn't require a police presence and when we told them we were filming a not-for-profit internet short film.

We chose to film at 10:00am on a Sunday morning, when most Southerners are in church. There was no one but us seemingly around. We had one carload of gawkers drive by, and they were very nice and waved and all. The police came by twice just to check on how we were going.

We finished shooting by noon, and wrapped the shoot for the victims. They did a terrific job dying on cue, especially Tyger, who wandered out from the alley and died right on time each time and every time.

Afterwards, with after-church traffic growing, we went into the Windsor Hotel and, with their permission, re-recorded the dialogue twice in their sound-proof gymnasium.

We had trouble filming one line of Sara's: she says "It's all so sad, Captain," and despite recording it, and rerecording twice at the hotel, and another three times at the studio in January, it sounded different each time. What we ended up using was three different pieces of the audio clip and built her line as best as we could. The other problem audio-wise we had was when Jeff says, "Lieutenant Storm, get us the hell out of here." Again, we had issues there recording the sound mainly because we were trying to have Jeff barely be audible.

All in all, I think the end results are quite nice. Yes, it's a tragic endings, but not every ending can be a happy one.
