Nice cover, although I was hoping we might get a rendering of a Tzenkethi - my poor imagination just can't imagine them as anything other than Kif Kroker's species in Futurama.

I tend to think of them as slightly more relaxed, glowing, Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubemen.

To me, the Tzenkethi's description is reminiscent of the stereotypical "Gray alien," sort of like the flexible-bodied Close Encounters aliens, but taller and more glowy. There's a particular variant of "Gray" I've seen in some movie or show that was glowing, I think, but I can't remember where it's from.

I tend to think of them as smaller, more compact, different colored Kaminoans.

Are there more Lost Era books coming out or just this one?

Very nice cover, very reminisent of the other Lost Era covers, and the fact that it actually uses the Lost Era logo makes me hopefull this series might be revived.

I do, too -- though I suppose the fact that a Human and a Cardassian were both able to be surgically altered to look like a Tzenkethi in Brinkmanship implies that Tzenkethi skulls and limb structures must be relatively close to humanoid norm. (Or is there maybe a difference between the body structures of Tzenkethi service grades and upper grades? Maybe service-grade Tzenkethi still have skeletons while upper-grade Tzenkethi don't.)

Just this one for this year anyway.

And while I do realize this book is probably more about DRG wanting to tell another Enterprise B story/follow up to Serpents Among the Ruins rather than kick-starting a new Lost Era series, I have been wondering if doing more Lost Era novels on a regular basis could become possible? Obviously we wouldn't get anything like what we had in 2003, but I'm thinking one novel a year set on the Enterprise B or C, the Excelsior, the Stargazer, or another early career days of one of the 24th century characters? The period covers 70 years, plenty of story material for a single stand-alone story per year.

Though I suppose such a decision should wait until after this novel is released and we see how well it sells.

True, but let's see what we can do to help on the sales front!

I would love to read a USS Rutledge story.

They obviously sold well enough to warrant this book

What does this cover depict anyway? Two 2319 Starfleet officers in a shuttle bridge looking at the star Rejarris?
