J's working his rainbow magic on a thread again. Makes me feel all soft and gooey inside. Or that could just be my liver.

Sorry I haven't been around lately to respond. Mom has been in the hospital... 3 heart attacks in 2 months.

It is a requirement for me. This rule weeds out those who are only in it for the sex.
I thought a simple kiss (so long as both parties are willing) is a polite and commonplace way to end a first date that went well. I had no idea it makes you a crazed sex fiend.
Right? Because I've kissed a number of people I haven't ended up having sex with. The idea that a kiss at the end of the first date just means the person is interested in sex would be offensive if it wasn't so absurd.
Since the OT was about "boyfriend rules", I listed mine.
"No school like the old school." -from The Incredibles, one of my favorite movies.
I know my views may be old-fashioned. As a widower who lost his soul mate to a distracted driver, I tend to compare future mates to the high standards we shared. Why would I want someone who is not compatible?

IDIC is more than GR's commercial gimmick. It means 3 things:
1 -"Can't we all just get along?"
2 -"Live and let live."
3 -We are all different, yet together we are complete.

I don't dislike you based upon the standards you set. Please don't dislike me for mine.

BTW, while drifting off topic, I think you stumbled into hilarity!

Plenty of people in the past kissed without having sex at the end of a date, so that really still doesn't make sense.

My current girlfriend and I kissed on our first date. A lot! It lasted 10 hours, the last few of which was spent in her car watching Trigun waiting for her sister to arrive by bus.

We didn't have sex for months.

Exactly, most everyone kisses on the first date. And pretty much always have.

I remember my high school years where I dated one of the most conservative Christian girls in the entire school (not a fundamentalist, just conservative), and we kissed at the end of our first date. She was very sweet, and oh so very smart. I still feel a pang of sadness that it didn't work out.

When I started dating again I said very bluntly that there wouldn't be any kissing at the end of the date. I was willing to do other things before kissing, really.

Really? That's interesting. I don't think I've ever known anyone to do that.

Oh, I'm pretty certain she's married by now. It's been 16 years. I haven't kept up contact, as that does often happen when we all leave our high school years.

Kissing felt really intimate and I wasn't ready to do that or have sex initially. Eventually I was more comfortable kissing but realized I didn't want to have sex with anyone that I wasn't serious/in love with, so I stopped casually dating altogether.

It seems to have worked well for you, if I may say so. You seem much happier.
