Looking for a new anti virus/internet security software

My Norton Internet Security Software license expires within 30 days of this post. I am not satisfied with it. I am looking for a new anti virus/internet security software. Any advice ?

I do shop online. Protecting credit card information is a priority for me. Removing viruses and malware is also an priority.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender. They're free.

Highly recommend NOD32 if you're willing to pay. Been using it for over 5 years without a problem.

Seconded. I started with the anti-virus and moved on to Smart Security.

I also have Windows Defender running and never had any conflict issues with both running together.

Several years ago, I had Norton and I liked it, but I switched to 64 bit Windows and Norton wasn't there yet.

The best anti-virus/security programs will cost some money, but it's money well spent.

There is absolutely no need to pay for antivirus software on Windows.

I also started to experience problems with Norton once i switched from 32-Bit to 64-Bit Window. Before that it was doing it's job well.

This. Enough studies have been done to show that freeware and payware AV programs perform at about the same level. On top of that, Microsoft Security Essentials lacks something that many AV programs have, and that's bloat. You won't get it with MSE.

Hello,

Sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the Norton product. Can you please share your feedback on the Norton products so I can pass it to the concerned team?

Thanks!

I think, at the time, Norton Utilities had no 64 bit compatible version and the anti-virus (Enterprise?) that was compatible was aimed at businesses and was mind-bogglingly expensive.

Hello,

Sorry for the trouble. I am Vineeth and I am from the Norton Support team.

Norton products are absoultely compatible with the 64 bit OS. Do you remember the Norton product version you had? What were the problems you had after switching to 64 bit OS.

Thanks!

Thats almost funny. I am curious. Do you sit on all internet forums and look for posts to which you must reply? Its a Norton product, its like giving Mad Cow to a Cow on purpose. They serve no valid purpose and are filled with bloat.

Nope. No legitimate support representative would be anywhere other than their company's support site or service. Going anywhere else, and identifying one's self as official support, invites lawsuits, especially if that "advice" doesn't work out, so no, this person would not be an official Norton Support tech. I would advise not accepting any advice from this person. Most certainly, I would suggest you do not share any kind of information with this person, neither should you visit any website they ask you to visit.

"Vineeth from Norton Support" apparently does this on numerous (some high-profile) sites and I couldn't find any instances of him spamming, providing bad information, or attempting to deceive anyone. He's also very active on the official Norton support site. It's possible he is a volunteer rather than a paid employee, but I see no reason to act based on his appearance here at this point.
