I hit my 13th anniversary at the end of April. Several other longtime and current veterans of the board also joined in the Class of 2001. It was a good year to be a Trek geek.
It was indeed. I'll turn a TBBS-teenager too, this year (in October, I believe), if you count my previous incarnation.

Happy anniversary, teacake!

Happy Dozen, Joel.

It's been great to know you, here and elsewhere.

I wonder how long I've been here. I suppose there's a way to look that up.
I generally can remember the date. Quite easy to check. I wish I had more to do that thread again in the AL.

Fourteen years in March, newbies.

It's appalling how long I've been here.

I'll hit 14 in April.

Next year, when I hit my 15th year, I will officially have been member for half of my life.

Re: Twelve Years of Me!

There are probably precious few of us left from the first year of the board's existence (1999), but some.

It was a much simpler place. I miss the old days. Fewer people to keep track of.

Re: Twelve Years of Me!

Also back in the old days we actually had new Trek on TV to discuss. Though it seems as if a lot of us joined in 2001, I wonder why?

It was the year Enterprise premiered, maybe? We always get a big influx of members whenever a big, new Trek thing happens.

Re: Twelve Years of Me!

2001 had multiple milestones for Trek:

1. Voyager's final season and episodes.
2. Enterprise ("Series V") premiering.
3. The announcement of Movie X (which became Nemesis).

The Trek forums were as active as I've ever seen them.

I remember that I joined was to post about trek. Seems now I don't do that much here. It happens elsewhere with the convention stuff I do.

Re: Twelve Years of Me!

I would assume that most of us joined to talk about Trek, ya know, because it's a Trek board.

I just don't have the patience for Trek discussions anymore. Too many people with too many opinions, most of which I don't care enough to argue about. And in the older Trek TV forums, every single topic has pretty much been discussed 100 times already, so there's little reason to venture there anymore.
