Keira Knightley: Babe of the Week #3 (Jan. 2014)

Keira Knightley
(Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Pirates of the Caribbean)
Thumbs up= Thumbs down= Thumbs sideways=

Keira Christina Knightley was born in Teddington, a quiet suburb of south-west London, to actor Will Knightley and playwright Sharman Macdonald. Knightley lived in Richmond, attending Stanley Junior School, Teddington School and Esher College. She was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of six, but nevertheless was successful enough in school and was thus permitted to acquire a talent agent and pursue an acting career (in fact, she had actually requested an agent at the age of three). Knightley made her debut at the age of seven, playing the part of a little girl in a TV movie called "Royal Celebration." Her first major film was Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace (1999), her first lead role was the TV movie "Princess of Thieves" (2001) and her breakthrough role was Bend It Like Beckham (2002), but it was Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) that propelled her to leading lady status and stardom.

Knightley is the face of an Amnesty International campaign to support human rights. In 2004, she travelled to Ethiopia alongside Richard Curtis, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Julian Metcalfe on behalf of the Comic Relief charity. In April 2009, Knightley appeared in a controversial video to raise awareness of domestic abuse entitled Cut shot for Women's Aid. In November 2010, she became patron of the Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Trust, a British charity that funds medical research into the disease spinal muscular atrophy.
Based on the CIA analyst created by espionage master Tom Clancy, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is a blistering action thriller that follows Ryan (Chris Pine) from his quiet double-life as a veteran-turned-Wall Street executive to his all-out initiation as a hunted American agent on the trail of a massive terrorist plot in Moscow.

Ryan appears to be just another New York executive to his friends and loved ones, but his enlistment into the CIA secretly goes back years. He was brought in as a brainy Ph.D. who crunches global data -- but when Ryan ferrets out a meticulously planned scheme to collapse the U.S. economy and spark global chaos, he becomes the only man with the skills to stop it. Now, he’s gone fully operational, thrust into a world of mounting suspicion, deception and deadly force. Caught between his tight-lipped handler Harper (Kevin Costner), his in-the-dark fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley) and a brilliant Russian oligarch (Kenneth Branagh), Jack must confront a new reality where no one can seem to be trusted, yet the fate of millions rests on his finding the truth. With the urgency of a lit fuse, he’s in a race to stay one step ahead of everyone around him.

She's a classic beauty and, if not a great actress, certainly a capable one. As for her much-mocked skinny physique, I don't think she's unhealthy looking. She's just naturally lean. Thumbs up.

She's extremely lovely, even supernaturally so. But she wasn't always considered that way. When she auditioned for Pride and Prejudice for the character Elizabeth Bennett, a role beloved in England, the director actually mused if she wasn't beautiful enough.

Her more challenging roles proved she isn't just a pretty face with such diverse roles as The Jacket, London Boulevard, and Never Let Me Go.

As such, she's not a babe. She's a dramatic actress of high merit who also happens to be exquisite.

Here a fragile actress who's afraid pf the paparazzi

Don't even have to think about this one: Thumbs Up.

Classic beauty without being glamorous, elegant without being aloof, and a great body.

Despite being too skinny, she is certainly a breathtaking beauty.

While not in my top 5, I've heard someone describe her as "The most beautiful woman since the invention of sight."

This is the third nominee in a row that is finals worthy nominee. She falls in the "there may be a small handful of women that are as beautiful as her but none more beautiful than her" category.

A steady diet of double cheeseburgers, large fries and chocolate shakes might get her to sideways status. Down for being skin and bones. Real women have curves.

^ Real women come in lots of different shapes and sizes, including very skinny, regardless of your personal aesthetic preferences.
