The name drop by Janeway was really not a great line. This speach is neither a good reference porn.

PICARD: Mr. Worf? This is slightly...awkward, but several members of the crew have complained about the fact that you're continuing to wear that uniform when you're not actually in Starfleet anymore. I mean, ceremony is all very well and good, but...do be a good chap.
"do be a good chap."

But . . but Picard is supposed to be French!

^Of course he is! I know that! Do you really think that Patrick Stewart's accent causes me to forget Picard's nationality? That's nonsense! That's...that's...LOOK OVER THERE!

Were they really that bad? Regarding why I haven't seen them yet, that's because after watching First Contact, I decided to start Deep Space 9, and currently am on Season 2.

I always thought the promotional material for Star Trek: Insurrection should've said: "Yuppies battle Eminent Domain!"

I think INS is more along the lines of Blazing Saddles. Corrupt officials eye village of innocents. Residents must overcome their trust issues to join forces with the heroes and fight back. An older lady figures in, and there's singing and hijinks. Getting beamed aboard the holo-ship parallels getting confused by the fake town. And so forth.

So Insurrection would have worked as a full-on comedy? Maybe so...

They ain't very good.... Between the two of them, they manage to make the TNG movie series look like mostly crap in retrospect.

DS9 = Good. Stick with DS9.

I don't think Insurrection is anywhere near as bad as TFF, it was just guilty of lacking in ambition and not keeping up with the rest of Hollywood, which is what ultimately what Nemesis was guilty of also

Star Trek: Nemesis falls apart in terms of scope as soon as we see the Senate of the Romulan Star Empire and there's barely enough extras to populate a PTA meeting.
By contrast, the 2009 Star Trek movie had the cadet assembly meeting set in a big auditorium; that's what Baird and Logan should have done.
