I am not a fan of car racing movies.
Me neither (I can't even drive) so I was rather surprised by how much I enjoyed the F&F stuff when I watched it thus year. Even went to the cinema to see the new one.

Sad news.

I had been forced to watch F&F on the job, and Mr. Walker never penetrated my consciousness. I remember him from Timeline, which I like better. By a coinincidence I watched him in Vehicle 19 two days ago and liked his performance (and the movie) even better.

But regardless of how much you like his roles, it's a shame.

No words to add really. I watched the Fast and the Furious movies, wasn't the biggest fan of them but looked forward to number 7 all the same. Too young. Sympathies to his family.

There was a celebrity death hoax 3-4 days ago like the Morgan Freeman Jackie Chan Celine Dion, ironically it turned out to be tragically true

I wonder how they will handle this in the F&F franchise. He's certainly filmed a chunk of the next film. I'd think they would use what they can and rewrite to make his character another victim of Statham's villain.

Do you think that the franchise will continue without him after no 7 ?

As we remember Paul Waker, we should also remember Roger Rodas, the other victim of this tragedy.

@ Relayer1: I move that we keep such discussions to the F&F 7 thread. I'm sure there'll be plenty to chew on in the days ahead.

I actually saw the first FF in the the theatre. I have to admit it did stoke my fire for cars higher than it had been. It probably didn't help that I had owned a Mitsubishi Eclipse of the same model year as the lime green one Paul drives in the first part of that movie.

I'd like to thank Paul for the entertainment he's provided over the years. He will be missed.

Re: Paul Walker dead at 40

Some years ago I had come home from work, parked my car about a block and a half away from my building and was walking home. I had two bags of groceries with me so when I saw I would have to walk through a large film crew and equipment I wasn't happy. The sidewalk was partially blocked with people, cable, equipment, etc.

To top it off, there was this tall blonde "movie dude" as I called him at the time, standing in the middle of the sidewalk. His side was facing me as he was staring across the street. My experience with movie people is that they aren't necessarily rude (unless you're interfering with production) but often they do act like neighborhood residents are in their way on a location shoot. As I approached "movie dude" blocking the sidewalk, he heard me walking toward him and to my shock, turned to me and politely apologized for being in the way and stepped aside -- before I could say anything.

He obviously was an actor though I didn't recognize him at the time. It wasn't until much later after seeing pictures of him that realized "movie dude's" name was Paul Walker. All I can say is that I have no trouble believing the people who knew him who say that he was a real down to earth guy. I also think he probably had some good "home training" as we used to call it.

Only ever saw one of his movies, "Timeline" and didn't think it did the book justice, but after my encounter with him, I always rooted for his movies. I was glad his F&F movies were such hits.

So sad to hear about his death (especially for his little girl). RIP.
