I'd follow Archer half the time. He had a pretty good track record of keeping the crew safe up until season 3. I'd give him a half a vote, but since nobody else has voted for him so far I figured one full vote couldn't hurt.

It's not a rank thing... I'm not that far ahead of you and I've always had the ability to delete posts. That's odd, I'm not sure why some users would have it and others wouldn't. This might be a good question for the mod board.

I'm fascinated that Jellico is pulling votes. I was kind of joking when I suggested him for the list.

In a captain I want a leader who will get the job done. Not a buddy.

It wasn't like he was a bad guy or anything, just strict. I'm glad you reminded me of him.

I guess he is a solid, realistic example of a more brute-force command style, so... cool.

Kirk, nuKirk and Jellico.

Sisko is a close fourth.

Really BillJ you'd go with NuKirk? Too green for me, though obviously Starfleet didn't think so.

But we have no evidence that he would.

In fact, I recall he wasn't quite on top of his game during that ep.

Anyway, Picard, Sulu, Martok, Shran, OldPike.
Kirk has a nasty tendency to lose crewmembers all the time, Janeway is insane, Jellico is a blowhard and I'm sure not following a fanatic like Sisko or Kira anywhere.

Edit: Guess I forgot Archer. Well, he's a decent enough guy, but he's not really that competent.

Well, Jellico did in fact get the job done, he was just kind of a dick about it.

I voted the straight ticket: Pike, Kirk, Sulu, Picard, Sisko.

Yeah he did. He completely saw through the Cardassians ploy, played to their weaknesses, kept their plan to seize the planet from working and saved Picard to boot. If that's not evidence of getting the job done, despite some hurt feelings, I don't know what is.

Riker just needs to put his big boy pants on and not throw a childish tantrum when he doesn't get his way. Had they launched a rescue mission like he wanted, the Federation and Cardassia probably would've gone to war that episode.

I hope you mean Willard Decker and not Matt Decker but I wish you reminded me of him in the Poll starter thread.

Yes, I was talking about Will Decker. Matt got his entire crew killed, which isn't what I'd want in a commanding officer.
