She does look good in the uniform. Attractive still, of course, but professional.
Has anybody read the Mirror Universe prequel novels Dark Passions one and two? It heavily features the Mirror Universe Annika Hansen aka Seven, as well as Kira, Troi and all the other major Trek women play some role in it, including Janeway. Since it's the Mirror Universe there's lots of lesbian/bi women, and both Troi and Seven have involvements with Kira. I really like them a lot. It's neat to see what the Mirror Universe Seven is like. Seven is on both of the covers, in book one she shares the cover with Kira and Troi, and in book two she's in the center with Janeway and Beverly Crusher at her side.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

OMG I loved Dark Passions. They were so pulp and slash and camp and really quite a ride.

The rest of treklit could learn from those books, total entertainment.

I love Dark Passions too! I would love to see more Trek books like that too. Apparently Susan Wright has done some BDSM/kinky sci fi novels outside of Trek too that I've always meant to get around to reading.

I wrote the cover copy for some of those books!

I wish they'd do a male version of the Dark Passions novels. It's pretty much a double standard that all the women in the MU are bi/lesbian while all the men seem to be straight.

Though I'm not necessarily a fan of hers, per se, I agree with everyone in support of Seven of Nine. Yes, her outfit sexed her up, but out in The World, we see well, not actual catsuits, but chicks wearing skin tight clothes, every day. They're not trying to be slutty, it's just the way they and their girlfriends dress. It might seem kind of contradictory, some way, but it's truth.
Not at work.

No, not at work. However, quite a few women dress sexier for their jobs, than they do for their husbands. And some constantly challenge the status quo, coming into work with backless dresses and short skirts ... it's often a close call, but it's almost impossible to avoid detection.

omg teacake your new avatar lol
The covers for the Dark Passions books are great, great artwork of the "bad girls" of the MU complete with Troi in Klingon armor, and then the beatific art on the second book representing hope I guess.

^ I'm wondering, why they felt they had to call it "Dark" Passions? Seems kind of insulting, innit?

It is a little insulting. The mirror universe's women are all evil and bisexual, while the men are evil and straight. Presumably the "darkness" comes from the morality, not related to their sexual orientation, but I don't even buy that since the regular good versions of those women were shown to be pretty much heterosexual.
I'm a hypocrite I guess though, because I still enjoy the MU tv eps and books, and Dark Passions is still a damn fun read. It does have some stylistic similarities to old pupls which also would have lurid covers and sex shaming titles. In that era they could get away with adult content only by making a morality play out of it, where the libertine sinners were punished in the end.
I have read an interview with Nana Visitor about the MU where she was very concerned not to be offensive to the gay community in playing MU Kira, and she said initally she wasn't thinking of Intendent Kira as being bisexual, that her attraction to the real Kira was about narcissism, but of course later episodes showed Intendent Kira's attraction to other women beyond her alternate self.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

The Intendant was first and foremost a user. Sexuality had less to do with it than power and narcissism and I think it did come through that way.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

Agreed. The Intendant uses sex as a means to an end, nothing more. To call her bi, or even lesbian, would imply that she actually LIKES a certain group. Clearly, the Intendant does not "like" anyone; she has no compassion or actual attraction. Who knows if she even enjoys sex at all...

In that way, she is very much like Nicole Wallace from Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

I think that the Intendent is a hedonist though. Don't we see her with attractive men and women lying around presumably there for her sexual pleasure? I think that we see enough that she does seem to enjoy sex, sometimes with people who wouldn't be in a position to do anything for her. That's not to deny that she often uses sex as a way to manipulate and control people.
