I guess they have a weight quota to maintain and trading Prince caused a large deficit.

I mean, Dave Dombrowski is a smart person and generally very competent, but this offseason has been ridiculously weird, almost as nonsensical as the Yankees' (almost). If I'm doing my checks accurately:

Tigers subtract:
Fister
Prince
Infante
Peralta
Benoit
Veras
Smyly (from bullpen)

Tigers add:
Smyly (to rotation)
Castellanos
Kinsler
Lombardozzi
Davis
Nathan
Krol
Ray
Chamberlain

So, the bullpen is worse, the offense is worse, the starting rotation is worse. Has Dombrowski been eating too much Little Caesar's?

This is the first I've heard of this. They must have given him 4 years?

Infante has always been a nice player to have on your roster. Very versatile defender and generally hits for contact. Pretty good number 2 or 8 hitter.

"Nothing is finalized yet, but we are in serious discussions and we should have news for you pretty quick. It'll be north of $30 [million], but we're working on it," Mato said. "We're still dotting the i's and crossing the t's. We're just not there yet."

Hopefully this means the Yanks still have time to counter offer.

The Yankees offered 3 / 24 for Infante, which is already stretching it, to say nothing of a fourth year -- Omar Infante in his age 36 season seems like a rough proposition. And since the Yankees are all-in on Project 189, I don't think they'll counter.

4/30M being reported. What's the Yankees' backup to the backup plan? I used to play 2B back in little league. Only 32, though, so gonna hold out for a 4 year deal at least.

Seriously, though, what's left at 2B?

Has Ty Wigginton retired yet? He probably play 2nd base. Trade Brett Gardner to the Mets for Daniel Murphy. Include Soriano and a bucket of balls and passes to Old Timers day and we'll make the deal right now.

Ten Hall of Fame ballots have been publicly released. Glavine and Maddux are on all ten ... with Jack Morris on eight. Other top vote-getters: Biggio at eight, Frank Thomas and Mike Piazza at seven, and Mussina, Schilling and Bagwell tied at 5.

Ser Barrold of House Bounds has four total votes currently.

Most amusing is Juan Vene's ballot, which comprises Maddux, Smoltz, Morris and ... Lee Smith.

I'd sooner suggest that the Yanks trade for Justin Turner than whoever the hell this 'Kelly Johnson' is.

Feel better, the Yankees are reportedly close with Brian Roberts as well. Yep, that one from the O's, that hasn't played a full season since 2009...
