Harrison Ford confirms Blade Runner 2 discussions

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/blad...-2-discussions
Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford have been having Blade Runner 2 chats, the actor confirms...

Ever since Ridley Scott confirmed that he was planning a second Blade Runner movie, speculation has been rife that Harrison Ford would be involved in it. But would he be? It's no secret that Ford and Scott didn't exactly see eye to eye over Blade Runner, and for a while it was looking likely that if the project happened, it'd happen without any Harrison Ford involvement at all.

But the most recent update? Conversations appear to be happening. Ford told IGN that "yeah, we've been chatting about [Blade Runner 2]. I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director. I would be very happy to engage again with him in the future".
Good to see them talking about the project.

This sounds like a terrible idea. I'd rather see a Prometheus sequel.

But, who knows, Scott might surprise me.

Blade Runner was immense, I think they could wrangle something more than decent for a sequel.

Now they just have to explain why the Deckard replicant got old.

What's to explain? Replicants are biological and can age.

If they do a sequel, let's see how long is takes for Ford to be driven nuts again by Scott.

Limited life span. The replicant would never have made it to Ford's current age.

The limit was placed by Tyrel Corp, no reason it couldn't be removed. Rachel doesn't have it, and Deckard could have had it undone assuming he was the missing replicant from the 6 who initially got to Earth.

I thought Tyrell explained to Batty that it couldn't be removed.

On the first point, he could have been lying. As for the second, I watched the movie.

So, he could have been lying in the first case, but he could not possibly have been lying in the second?

You're attached to the 4 year lifespan, I'm not. Within the film one can assume Deckard and Rachel's more human strength and abilities are a result of not being as suped up as Roy and company. The dialogue backs that up with the analogy about bright candles lasting half as long. Tyrel likely had plans for Deckard and Rachel, and had no need for Roy and his remaining pals.

Bladerunner is a favorite of mine. That being said I never agreed with Scott shoe horning in after the fact that Deckard was a replicant.

I think he put enough in the first version to make Deckard's being a replicant a possible interpretation. He doesn't have to be for the film to work, but with the changing number of replicants, that Roy knew who he was out of the blue, and a some other points like the origami pieces, its not farfetched. I do prefer the more open ended is he or isn't he one, though. Making that explicit does take away some of the fun.
