I'm happy that we're getting a 3rd and a 4th series.

They began filming on Monday. They are filming two now with a third to be filmed later in the year when Martin and Ben have fulfilled commitments in New Zealand and ben's movie about Brian Epstein

Yes! Love the first two seasons. Best money I've spent on DVDs in years.

I think my very favorite scene in terms of character development, where Freeman and Cumberbatch just NAILED it, was during

You just don't get genuine chemistry like that between two leads who aren't fighting, but are discovering genuine flaws in the other's character. I've disappointed you. Yes, you have. It wasn't soapy melodrama. It was just so--real. I appreciated it.

Agreed. For me it was the interplay between Freeman and Cumberbatch that sold me on the series. Not sure I would have been interested if there were different actors involved.

Also, the casting in this series tends toward fantastic across the board. Their choices for Mycroft, Irene Adler and Moriarty have all been dead-on great.

If you think of Sherlock as a series of films, you realize that they come out fairly regularly. And it is a series of films.

Re: SHERLOCK [BBC] - Series 3 - airing late 2013/ early 2014

That it is. If it were a 16 or 22 episode per season series the quality would inevitably drop--but it's a moot point anyway. Freeman and Cumberbatch are too much in demand elsewhere. It's fortunate that we're getting a series 3 and 4. The two stars genuinely like doing it. Neither one seems full of himself during interviews. They're both quite articulate. Strikingly so.

I have a favorite comedic scene from Sherlock as well. Hands down the best.

Re: SHERLOCK [BBC] - Series 3 - airing late 2013/ early 2014

I've just watched an interview by Stephen Moffat where he basically says that with this series, we're seeing Holmes and Watson at the beginning of their career, where they're younger than what we're used to seeing. I wonder if that was his way of saying "well, we can stop this thing for twelve years and come back to it if we want".

Big time casting spoiler for a new female character! This person's picture has been posted while filming a scene and it's obvious that she's in character, not just visiting the set.

Well, the three clues Moffat gave were

So that certainly makes sense with the second clue.
