In hindsight, there was an interesting bit of CA:TWS foreshadowing on AoS.

I believe, though, that foreigners adopting Chinese babies en masse didn't start until the one-child policy came around in 1979.
But there were plenty of Chinese-Americans in this country long before that, some of whom must have put their kids up for adoption. The point is that there are many ways that someone of Chinese ethnicity could have a non-Chinese surname, or at least one not spelled in a conventional way.
Her full birth name is Melinda Mayble Schwartz.

My wife used to work at a Japanese company, where all the employees chose an official American first name for the convenience of the non-Asian employees. I don't know if they changed them legally, but it's what they were called around the office. They called my wife "Mary-san"

In college I knew a Vietnamese immigrant whose given name was Hong Ngoc, which means Rose Jade IIRC, but she'd been christened Theresa on moving to the US.

On the other hand, I once knew a Caucasian US native who had a Vietnamese given name because her mother taught English as a second language to Vietnamese immigrants. So people's names don't always match their ethnicities.

The person who delivered my newspaper a few years ago was named "Phuc Nguy." I hope he never tries to anglicise it.

According to Google Translate, "h̀ng ngọc" comes out in English as ruby/carbuncle. However when I put in "rose" and "jade" individually, I got "h̀ng" and "ngoc", respectively.

On a different subject, does anyone here positively know if Chloe Bennett is biracial? Not that there's anything wrong with it, I'm just curious.

Yes, her birth name is Chloe Wang. According to Wikipedia, her father is Chinese and her mother Jewish-American (their words). She moved to Beijing at 15 and had a career as a pop star under the name Wāng Kěyng.

Oh, and in her case it's Bennet, just one T.

First official pic of Amy Acker as Audrey, aka "The Cellist".

From her comments, she is apparently a fan of the show.

One of the midwives I worked with in my former life was named Nu Rigby. I hate the practice of women changing their names to their husbands,' but sometimes it has interesting results. Anyway, she came from Vietnam as a boat person and has one of the most amazing success stories of anyone I've met.

I hope not. I'd rather her be a one-off than the main villain.

This is a spoiler and should have been kept behind spoiler tags.

Having said that, I am also glad to see this SPOILER about the show.I've grown to love this actor as well.

The Amy Acker news makes me very happy. I've been a big fan since I first saw her on Angel.
