I wonder if classic SHIELD agents like Clay Quartermain will make an appearance.

Re: Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

We've had a bunch of agents (Hand, Hill, Sitwell, Garrett) who are all from the comics (plus a few more appear to be in Winter Soldier). I could see Quartermain as well. He's really the main one left. The only thing I couldn't figure out from his bio is if he's more associated with Hulk than SHIELD as a whole. That's not a knock, just that they need to think about whether they want to do a Hulk movie or not before they cast someone for that role in a TV show (not that recasting is unheard of, but it'll cheapen it if they recast simply because they forgot that person was already cast).

I asked earlier, but I'm curious if anyone knows the answer to whether or not there are any African American non-Sam Jackson-related SHIELD agents from the comics.

Gabe Jones from the Howlers was in SHIELD.

Well, there's the Falcon, of course, but he's in The Winter Soldier. There's also G.W. Bridge. Not to mention Chinese-American agent Jimmy Woo. Wikipedia lists several agents with Japanese, Indian, Native American, or otherwise clearly non-European names, as well as a couple of Wakandan agents or advisors.

Yeah, and he's in Captain America.

I would like GW Bridge to appear at some point as well, just for the name alone.

Been a pretty good episode so far.

And it's the return of the offspring of Nathan Fillion and Rob Lowe.

Wherever Quinn goes, supervillains spring up.

And I was half right about Quinn.

Good episode. Decently similar to The Asset, but also quite different. Coulson's speech about Skye was quite good. I really do think the show works best when it goes for character moments. However, I will say that the ongoing mystery has improved dramatically in the back half.

So Skye is more specially-specialness than we could have hoped for. The question is, if the higher-ups at SHIELD find out, will they take her to the Sandbox and shoot her into the sun?

By the way, would anyone happen to have Samuel Jackson's or Robert Redford's phone number?

So Skye is officially a special snowflake...ugh!

Who would have thought a trip to "Shield Hogwarts" would be so boring?

Think Fury regrets resurrecting Coulson now? Between his moping and wanting to give away secrets, it's further proof Coulson needs to be put out to pasture.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Shield somehow becomes as good as Arrow did in the back half of their first season.

I don't think the Sandbox is where they shoot people into the sun.

I hope the people who complained about Skye having unrealistic abilities don't start complaining if it's revealed that they are supernatural in origin and, thus, seemingly address their criticism.

I don't see what's so special about Skye to begin with and Coulson's sappy speech doesn't change my mind. If Shield doesn't have a hacker better than her, then they are doing a piss-poor job.

It would also be nice if May emoted once and a while.

You mean Quinn? He reminds me more of Tahmoh Penikett.

This was a pretty good one, although it's weird that they didn't actually solve the problem at the end. The superstorm is still there -- who knows how much damage it did? (Maybe Thor showed up after the episode ended and dispersed the storm?)

For a minute there, when Fitz/Simmons were giving their lecture and saying they had pictures of old cases showing the hazards of technology, I was afraid this was going to turn out to be a clip show. I wonder if the writers deliberately did that to mess with us.

I had to look it up...I was thinking of the Slingshot.

Well, her being in the same class as Mjolnir makes it easier to swallow the concept of a hacker chick living in a van who looks like a model.

"Skye, I'm tired of keeping secrets from you. A team of SHIELD agents died protecting you when you were a baby because you're an 0-8-4. Oh, and Ward and May are having sex."

Anyone else notice the name of the brown-haired cadet that Ward questioned while playing pool? "Aly Hannigan." Willow is a SHIELD trainee!
