I wonder if they'll keep Strucker's Nazi roots, though, since they're not going to want him to be eighty years old. He could just be portrayed an evil German villain connected to Hydra, not the Nazis.

Many, many years ago, when I used Strucker in an IRON MAN novel, Marvel's licensing department ask me to delete any references to Strucker's days in the Third Reich, so he became just an evil German war criminal of unspecified political orientation!

Granted, that was a long time ago and different people are running Marvel now . . ..

Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes that came out in 2010ish, replacing the NAZIs with Hydra as the other side in World War II, which is historically irresponsible if 5 year olds had started repeating that at school (Remember why your teacher slapped you with a ruler for spelling chaos with a "K"?).

But did they have a choice?

Children's Cartoon, Captain America frozen since World War II, but you can't explain Hitler to a 4 year old.

Wussies.

Re: Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Well, Germany still has its neo-Nazis, in spite of all the effort they've put into things since that war ended. No reason why the Cinema'Verse edition of von Strucker can't be one of those, a scion of one of the Old Guard who got away and hid...and the same for Helmut Zemo if it comes to that.

Having Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch working for von Strucker as part of the plot seems a bit Odd, of course. Whedon will be aware of the "Roma vs. Nazism" history, though...

Oh god.

He's conflating them with the Fenris twins.

Since they are not allowed to be Magneto's children, or even probably mutants.

I wonder if Mckellan would get (pretend for a joke) uppity about that, if some one tells him that his children have been kidnapped?

^I never even thought of that. Trade out Strucker's super-powered twin children for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch? Whedon could then tell Wanda and Pietro's story with only minimal, superficial changes to their origin.

I didn't fall in love with Wanda until West Coast Avengers, how about everyone else?

Wow, that actually works. Never thought of that. A compromise had to be made.

I've liked Wanda since the original Celestial Madonna Saga of the 70s.

Re: Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Back when Moondragon had hair?

Was she a still lesbian back then?

Mantis and Starlord did seem to be getting on quite well...

But it's lucky that she was also a closet dendrophile, or that Celestial Madonna dealio would never have worked out.

(Wanda was a Robophile. Sorry to be sexist (A dendrophile, a lesbian and a Robophile walk into a bar.. )but this is a terrible group of women to tap as Space Jesus's mum. But maybe that was the point? Immortus fixed it so that the Celestial Messiah would never be born by signing up impossible choices for his mum?)

After all that the Celestial Messiah didn't turn out to be all that shit hot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequoia_(comics)

Flash in the pan.

Although, Mantis did take him to the DCU to gestate, which was odd.

HMMM?

What if it was a misdirect and if Wanda was always really the Celestial Madonna, then Wiccan or Speed, or both of them are the Celstial Messiahs... But Young Avengers is cancelled again, so that's unlikley to unfold.

I've been carrying a torch for Janet van Dyne since the mid-70's.

Re: Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

I seem to have imagined or misremembered a story line.

In my memory, Moondragon did something stupid, possibly trying to seduce the Vision, and then as punishment for being a dick, so that she would never forget she'd been a dick or ever again be such a dick, Heather shaved her hair off.

Google assures me that this never happened.

Her friendship with Dorothy may have started in later life since in Avengers 220ish, Moondragon psychically enslaved an entire planet, as well as Thor, who she made have sex with her a lot.

Oh, and Thor in charge of the (bbq) grill in Avengers 24 yesterday was hilarious.
