Why wouldn't he? Not every scientist/engineer has to be a whimsical, afraid, weak or squeamish person who when presented with a tight spot will automatically freeze up and needs rescuing by the big guys.

In that regard i really liked the episode because Fitz actually rocked.. he's no Ward and he'll never be but he held his own and used his assets to earn the respect of the big guy (and i'd really like to see a team up again with this new dynamic).

You've no reason to be, when you've already been informed that the tie-in is scheduled for next week's episode.

by the Rising Tide honcho be an incompetent hypocrite
Skye's boyfriend wasn't in charge of the whole operation; we've been told that they're an affiliation of independent hackers--If they even have a leadership hierarcy, we haven't seen it.

by having Skye more interested in personal aims than her politics
Skye seems to be more interested in the truth than a political agenda. That's what motivated her to participate in the Rising Tide, and being on the inside of SHIELD gives her a better perspective than she had there.

I know the internet is the home of unreasonable expectations, but you can't really expect me to remember dates?

Since Skye has rejected Rising Tide's political agenda in favor of the truth to be found in a secretive organization, nothing of importance can be expected from it or Skye in regards to SHIELD's value. Except to choose SHIELD truth over Rising Tide's political agenda again. I get the impression you'll find this a satisfying character development, so you should look forward to it.

I don't find the Skye/Rising Tide angle terribly compelling, I was just explaining my understanding of it. But it's possible that the Rising Tide as an outside force may still have a role to play on the show.

I really enjoyed this episode. Random thoughts:
The stuff with Ward and Fitz was fun.
I'm also wondering if May was somehow involved with Baby Sky.
I liked the scene with Coulson and May's "talk".
I think Hand knew that Coulson and the rest of the team would go rescue Fitz and Ward. Her little smirk seemed to me to be her thinking that everything was going according to her plan.
We learned some interesting new things about Skye.
I'm startig to wonder if the references to Tahiti being a magical place are some kind of a programed response. He almost looked confused when he said it in this one, like he just realized that he always says it whenever anyone refers to Tahiti, or what happened to him.

The only thing I didn't really like about this episode was that there were absolutely no repercussions to Jemma shooting Sitwell. You would think there would at least be a stern talking-to.

Otherwise, it was wonderful, as usual. The plot was merely a framework on which to hang all the character interactions. Ward and Fitz bonding (yes, pun intended), Jemma freaking out over Fitz, Sky leading Jemma astray, Coulson's "talk" with May, Coulson reading Sky the riot act over accessing classified data, Coulson reading Hand the riot act for not sharing classified data, and Coulson coming through on his promise to Sky-- somewhat.

It's a shame the ratings continue to erode. We may not get a second season. But at least we'll get one good DVD set out of it, I guess.
So true about no repercussions. I'm getting the feeling these guys can just do anything, say they're sorry and we move on to the next episode.

May still steels the show every episode.

I agree. I'm much more a "Fitz fan" now.

Is it me, or is Jemma very difficult to understand? Is it the way they are cutting her voice in? Messing with it?

No, she just talks very fast with a foreign accent.

Well, we're not told where the MCU version of the Hub is, but Marvel's willing to share floor plans from the episode:

Almost certainly. People have been back and forth as to whether that line is a programmed response or a running joke, but it's pretty clear now.

You know, if Coulson ever actually goes to Tahiti, it will be a real letdown!

I think, if the show were to continue for a significant period of time, we almost certainly would. Whether it actually would is a different matter. We're not sure who the Girl in the Flower Dress and the BBQ Doctor work(ed) for, so it very well could be Hydra or AIM (in the comics those two things are connected, but that's not as likely to be the case here).
