Messy hair just makes me think someone's just had sex, so I like it.

But it wasn't messy as in mussed-up; it was perfectly well-combed, just uneven in length, as if she got a bad haircut.

Re: Castle - Season 6 Discussion & Spoilers

While I know that Castle is more about the relationships and there is the general idea of "first person interviewed" as the culprit, I was really disappointed in last week's episode. Most of the time the clues may be tenuous, but they are out there. In this one, I felt that there was no way to figure it out, that there was a lot of stuff that came out of thin air during the denouement.

I mean, I guess the fact that he was an actor might lead you to the director/actor woman, but that's thin gruel at best.

Her motivation and plan were very.....thin. I thought the rest was interesting leading up to that.

One thing I really like about Castle is there is a minimum of interpersonal drama between him and Beckett. Even when she moved to DC for a while. It seems TV can hardly ever leave a couple alone to enjoy each other and have their adventures. Sure, there has to be some tension, but I like the way Castle handles their conflicts. Low key, without the constant threat of breaking up.

I don't know if that makes sense, but that's what occurred to me today.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Their relationship is refreshingly adult. I used to watch Private Practice with my wife but I had to stop because I couldn't stand how everyone in a relationship acted like they were in high school.

Bingo!

That's exactly what I was trying to convey.

Thanks.

Yeah I agree, the relationship is as real as a TV show can be. There were a few rolling my eyes moments in 6 years, but I don't feel like the wedding will be called off at the last minute because of second thoughts.

Yeah, that's currently the one saving grace of the show which, according to me, is a pale shadow when compared to seasons past (especially seasons 1-3).

I liked it a lot when Castle proposed and she nearly immediately said yes.. other shows would drag that out for whatever reason until the point of ridiculousness (anyone remember Lois & Clark back in the 90s when they finally came clean to each other about their feelings and they spend half a season inventing reasons that kept them apart?).

Season 4 was a bit different in that Castle finally was honest to himself and said it out loud (even if Beckett claimed she didn't hear it) and they worked towards the finale all season long with the last few episodes kicking it up a bit.

I still love the personal stuff between the main leads and all the others (the one a few episodes back with the arsonist that got Ryan and Espo caught in a burning building was awesome) but overall i feel the show has lost direction. The former main driving force of Beckett, the murder of her mother, is not mentioned anymore (even in passing) and the only thing currently that gets taken out for a spin is the 3XK case (which admittedly are some of the best episodes of the entire show).

If this continues and current episodes is what we can expect from now on please put the show to rest after the season or season 7.

Re: Castle - Season 6 Discussion & Spoilers

Because I have watched 85% of the show in the last year or so by reruns I never saw the season 5 opening which I guess is where her mother's murder concludes.

So what the hell happened to that? I was hoping something would come up about that when Beckett was in the FBI.

Well that was a great episode. It was more of an episode to show Beckett's limitations rather than solving all the crimes. In the end there is really nothing that Beckett can do in the name of her mother's murder.

I actually like the relationship between Beckett and Castle. There's no problem in either of the two. It's all what I expect of the show and lately the storylines have been shifted to more of Beckett's challenges rather than Castle.

Finally a good episode! Although did we know before that Beckett was fluent in Russian?

Yes, that was established back when she had short hair, though I don't remember if they gave any background on it. As I recall, she rescued Castle from a card game due in part to her Russian fluency.

Season 2 episode 1 "Deep in Death" establishes Beckett is fluent in Russian. Castle is undercover in an illegal gambling den while Beckett, Ryan and Esposito are in the surveillance van. Beckett's ability to speak Russian is how she knows Castle is in trouble.

Warmest Wishes,
