Yeah, I was disappointed by the "explanation" for the TK stunts as well. I mean, sure, of course it was going turn out to be a hoax, but if you're going to make such a big deal of the big TK stunts, showing them onscreen in all their glory, you can't just shrug off the explanation with a few lines about "oh, I just rigged it all with wires and magnets and stuff. I'm really smart, you know."

Sorry, that's not good enough. You want to show us the stunts, you have to show us how they were pulled off. Otherwise you're cheating.

They were suggesting that his explanation was bullshit and that he did have telekinetic powers.

Have the writers been doing that a lot recently?

Yeah, too much. The ep with the guy who claimed to be a time traveler ended with a coda that could only be explained if it were true. It's getting annoying.

But that was clever. This was kinda half-assed.

I don't mind a cute little "ooh, maybe there really was ghost!" coda if it's just a little bit of a tease at the end, after a perfectly satisfying solution to the mystery has been provided, but this was lazy both ways. The "rational" explanation really wasn't much of one, and the spooky punchline felt kinda tacked-on as well.

I agree with the above complaints, and I'd add that I'm getting sick of Castle and Beckett going through the same routine over and over. How many times has Stana Katic had to deliver the lines "No, Castle, it's not ____ because there's no such thing as _____" and "I'm sure there's a logical explanation" by this point? It's become a tiresome formula. They didn't even try to vary it this time.

The girl who turned out to be the murderer looked surprisingly like Alexis. I'd think Castle would be a bit freaked out by that.

Re: Castle - Season 6 Discussion & Spoilers

This was the episode where I finally gave up on this show. I have enjoyed it primarily for Castle's family dynamic with Alexis and Martha. Since the Castle/Beckett relationship became official, we have been getting less and less of Castle's family, and I have been enjoying the show less.

For all the reasons quoted in this thread about the most recent episode, I decided enough is enough.

Last night: Schrödinger's Castle ep. Halfway through it, I thought to myself: this episode will either be awesome or terrible, depending on if the resolution is satisfying or not. No way to know till the mystery has been resolved.

Alas, it sucked. And how.

Re: Castle - Season 6 Discussion & Spoilers

I don't know why castle was wild-theoryless on this one. Had a couple myself:
a) Bald guy being a psychic pusher who caused people to confess to muddle the case.
2) Fringe science like high (or low?) frequency sonics to implant false memories in the suspects.
•) All 3 suspects were psychics who were in the killer's mind at the same time, then got, um, er, confused at the same, um, time... yeah.

Anyhow, Alexis looked hot.
And I love how she and Kate are friends, and how Kate obviously cares for her.

I guessed hypnosis right off the bat so I wasn't too far off. And I totally called the cult leader not being in Stockholm but instead being right in the building. Still, I enjoyed the episode and it's nice to see that Alexis is moving back home. She and Martha haven't been getting enough screen time.

Yeah, those were both pretty easy to figure out -- although I wish they'd explained how Bauer knew Beckett and Castle were coming.

This was a nice clever mystery, but it was undermined by its constant self-congratulation, Castle saying over and over how excitingly baffling it was. And as you say, it wasn't nearly as impossible to figure out as the scriptwriter kept boasting (through Castle) that it was. Castle should've thought of hypnosis much earlier -- heck, so should Beckett, or Phil LaMarr's psychiatrist character.

Also, the characters shouldn't have been so nonplussed by getting false confessions -- that's kind of an occupational hazard for homicide detectives, I gather. Nor should it have been mysterious that the witnesses remembered the details differently -- it's a given that multiple witnesses to the same scene will give inconsistent accounts of the details. In fact, if their accounts are too similar, it's evidence that they're rehearsed. Given that the plot depended on the malleability of human memory, it shouldn't have predicated that clue on the assumption that witnesses' memory will always be perfect right down to the number of water bottles they remember seeing in a fridge.

Was Molly C. Quinn wearing a wig here? Her bangs were lopsided in the restaurant scene, but not in the Castle's-apartment scenes. In any case, it's not a flattering look for her.

Re: Castle - Season 6 Discussion & Spoilers

Oh, I liked the bushy hair and bangs. But if it's a wig, then I don't like it, because she has gorgeous hair and it shouldn't be replaced with a wig (The Gates McFadden Syndrome!).

Maybe she didn't have time for proper hair and makeup before her scenes, and they have an emergency wig for just such times?

The writers have been doing a lot of something that isn't legal in most places and should be shared with the audience if they try horrible crap like that again.

The time travel episode was cute because it was fun and different. One of those every season or so is fine, but not all the time, it's just too much.

I have a feeling next season will be the last, the ratings were at an all time low in the demo and the writing is on the wall.

I noticed the uneven bangs too. It was pretty distracting.

I was wondering if the lopsided bangs were meant to indicate that she couldn't afford a haircut and was cutting her bangs herself. But they weren't consistent from one scene to the next, so I don't know.
