Jesus, what happened to the Eagles' defense?
I guess. Griffin looked awful though. That game could have been different had he not been so dreadfully inaccurate. I'm a Cowboys fan so I was forced to root for the Skins today.
Yeah, that sucks

What's the deal with these Coach T Toyota promos on SNF? The first two or three times it was a funny gag, but they just keep replaying the same ones every week. I thought the halftime "sponsored" ads from a few years ago where they did highlights from a pop warner game were cool, and those were new every week. Toyota really mailed it in this year, though.

If I'm going to be advertised to during live events, at least give me something new to look at. This is why people fast forward through commercials on the DVR.

Re: NFL Discussion - 2013 Season

That 49ers pissed me off today for four reasons:

1) I'm starting to question Jim Harbaugh's decision making. What was he doing challenging that touchdown ruled incomplete in the second quarter with ONE TIME OUT LEFT? Doesn't he know the rule, that you must complete the process of the catch in order for it to count as a TD? Just ask Calvin Johnson, that has happened to him probably more than any other reciever in the NFL. Not only that, but you squandered your timeouts in the first quarter, you only had one left with 8 minutes, and you decide to challenge?

2) I saw a game last week with the Saints and Brees looked to be sacked high and low and both times roughing the passer was called. You might as well stick a flag on the QB because you're apparently not allowed to hit him anymore. That protect Brees like there is no tomorrow in this league and it's frustrating as hell. That was a good tackle, even if it was forceful. The whole neck thing is just following Newton's laws of physics. Let the defenders play for crying out loud.

3) I'm actually starting to find the 49ers boring. Kaepernick looks lost, the recievers are doing nothing, and the play calling leaves something to be desired. Where's the flash, the creativity. You have Kaepernick trying to act like Payton Manning (Thus why all the timeouts are used early) when he should act like Colin Kaepernick, and the play calling reminds me of some of the coordinators that the 49ers fired. You don't want to use the read option? Fine, game plan something else that is better than what they have been doing.

4) That idiot 49er who tackled Sproles after he signaled fair catch really ticked me off. Ok, you didn't see it, but HE WAS GIVING HIMSELF UP. At that time of the game is not the time to have a freaking brain fart.

I'm not even sure if the 49ers will make the playoffs now. They don't look like a playoff team, and the division is now far out of reach. With the Cards winning, Carolina keeping on winning, and the 49ers playing like ****, I think we can kiss Super Bowl hopes away. The game was close today, but it was still a joke.

Re: NFL Discussion - 2013 Season

As strange as it is to say, the Broncos have managed to go even more conservative without Fox. They need to stop taking their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter and put more points up. They are not good at running the ball and draining the clock when the other team expects it, and run, run, pass on 3rd and long is not a recipe for success. Denver is fortunate that the Chiefs have no offense and the Chargers are allergic to doing anything as heroic as a fourth quarter comeback. However, if Denver stops putting up points and Brady gets the ball back down one score, he won't waste the shot like the other two teams did.

You gotta give the Broncos a pass in last nigh't game though. Nobody is putting up a lot of points on that Kansas City defense. That and Peyton's bum ankle had the Broncos trying to take a little of Peyton's plate with more running and quick release throws to avoid contact.

Re: NFL Discussion - 2013 Season

I fully understand and agree with the need to take some pressure off of Manning and try to strike a more equitable pass-run balance. But this is two weeks in a row where they turtle up in the fourth quarter and have very dubious success with running the clock and playing to not lose. Like I said, the Broncos are not built for running the four-minute offense and they're not very good at it. If they line up in an obvious run formation and the defense reacts accordingly, they are unable to pick any worthwhile yards with any consistency, and running twice and throwing on third & 9+ is not the path to consistent success. I'm not expecting them to hang 50 on the Chiefs, but moving away from their strength at the end of a tight game will get them killed against teams with a better offense. Any team other than SD and KC would have taken advantage of getting the ball back at the end of the game.

Chris Collinsworth was talking about how KC needed a Hail Mary pass after the two minute warning to have a chance at coming back. Down 10 points with under a minute left in the game, what is Andy Reid/Alex Smith's idea of a Hail Mary pass from their own 30? A one yard "strike" to Jamaal Charles.

Re: NFL Discussion - 2013 Season

Well there is some merit to the line of thinking that you would prefer to get the ball in the hands of a capable runner and block for him like you would a punt returner. Probability rate is considerably low on both but I would rather have Charles try to bust one than trust Alex Smith to heave one into the endzone. They can always play the lateral game for awhile too and see how that works.

I was wondering what the Trek BBS's biggest Patriots fan would have to say. I don't even like New England... in fact I despise them... but they got screwed on that final call. That was defensive pass interference all the way. No question about it.

Screwed? At worst it seemed a go either way kind of call/no-call. The explanation by the official they had in the booth seemed to make sense, because it really didn't look like Gronkowski had chance to even make a play on the ball, his momentum already carrying towards the back of the end zone. Still, if they had called holding or interference... I can see that.

It was close enough I had to give the benefit of the doubt to the officials

Re: NFL Discussion - 2013 Season

Come on Neroon, does this really look like it's his momentum carrying him away from the play? While I think there would be very little chance of that ball being completed if it was played cleanly (just based on the way he was covered), you can't just take the receiver out of the play like that. At a bare minimum, it should have been defensive holding. As much as I enjoy watching the Patriots lose, they should have gotten one last play.

I'm blaming the loss to the Steelers on the Lions being blinded and disoriented by those throwback uniforms.
