Cumberbatch in Star Wars 7

http://geektyrant.com/news/2013/9/3/...-wars-vii-role

If true, Cumberbatch is up for a part as a villain, "a major role that will continue throughout the whole new trilogy" - does this mean no return of Khan in Star Trek XIII? If so, I'm disappointed. He was an excellent Khan, IMO, and I was really hoping STXIII would open with him being thawed for trial and escaping.

I'm ok either way.
Cumberbatch in SW as a badie sounds great and I can live with him not coming back in ST3. Maybe he could return later on.

Hell yeah....I hope BC gets it. I love Star Wars as much as Trek, Its nice to see both a director and an actor that has been committed to both film series at some point in their careers instead of the endless rivalry driven by fans.

After all the damage he inflicted in DARKNESS, I can't see any way Starfleet would allow Khan to be defrosted. Sure, he's alive. And frozen. Let him freeze. He'll never play well with others. It's over. Move on.

Until the next reboot. And the one after that, and the one after that, and the one after that...

From the article: "Reports that Benedict Cumberbatch was cast in “Star Wars: Episode VII” seem to be full of Sith."

Keeping and open mind, he would have made a good Thrawn.

I was going to post an opinion that Cumberbatch playing an SW villain would be typecasting and not a good idea. But then I saw this post, and I have to agree with you, he would make an awesome Thrawn.

Except this time Thrawn would have white skin.

Also, the fact he is Thrawn would be a closely held secret, which fandom will figure out several months in advance anyway.

I'd like to see Cumby in a pop romcom next, just so he can get it out of the way.

Not exactly. Simon Pegg and Alice Eve denied Cumberbatch was playing Khan, but everyone else, including Cumberbatch himself just danced around the issue with silly non-answers. However this denial that he's in Episode 7 is coming directly from one of Cumberbatch's representatives, which is a lot more definitive than anything they said regarding Khan.
