Re: How I Met Your Mother: The Final Season

If the Mother dies, the only way I can see a happy ending for the show is with Ted ending up with Robin. But I absolutely can't picture them killing off Barney. And Barney's death couldn't allow for a happy ending in that case either. I think we'll be in for a tear jerker no matter what.

Re: How I Met Your Mother: The Final Season

Granted, they showed why Barney and Robin shouldn't be together, but I thought the entire show proved that Ted and Robin made a horrible couple. I only see them getting together in a "Well, the true loves of our lives are dead, we're tired of the dating scene, let's just do the inevitable and get married."

I also think it would ruin the whole, "Ted has to let go of Robin to find the one true love of his life," theme the latter half of last season and this entire season has been showing us.

So the final scene with the young kids filmed 8 years ago is not going to be used?

That is sad.

would be funnier if they used the now adult version of the kids, just to joke about how long that story took...

Because he's never talking to the kids any more in the framing, instead medium old Ted is always in the future talking to the wife.

(Feel free to tell me how wrong I am.)

What, no Saget voice over this season at all?

Re: How I Met Your Mother: The Final Season

IMDB says he's there, but they probably pencilled that in before season nine started.

It's probably 50/50, if Saget isn't in the episodes where the Mother and Ted are looking back on the past from shortly before she dies.

It's true that the voice over is reduced this season, but it's still there, and it's still Saget's familiar voice.

Sigh. He's done voice overs. There's no reason to think he won't continue to until we know for sure because he sat out one episode. (According to Wikipedia, he's been in 18/19 episodes this season.) There's also no confirmation the Mother is going to die. In fact, Cristin Milloti says the idea is crazy. She doesn't flat out deny it but...

Re: How I Met Your Mother: The Final Season

Has anyone floated the idea yet that Ted is crying about Mother's Mother dying right before their wedding? It would be unexpected b/c Ted not her is the one crying but Ted is the woman in the relationship

I still don't understand why people want the mother to die so desperately.

Re: How I Met Your Mother: The Final Season

I absolutely don't want the Mother to die. But after the last episode and going back to watch the episode where Ted desperately wants an additional 45 days with the Mother, it seems very very likely to me that she will die. But based on that interview, I guess it isn't as likely as I thought, although I still won't be surprised.
