^ And it's not the OP's fault that those kinds of acting jobs were primarily offered to white men (and marionettes).

No Robau?

Fail.

Adding Robeau is like adding Henry Deacon to the "Who's your favorite Eureka character?" poll.

Unfair for any other contenders.

Though minor nit-pick the Character is called The Doctor not Doctor Who.

I went for Sheridan but only because I don't regard The Doctor as a captain. Picard comes a very close second to Sheridan.

I'd also echo another comment which Adama are we talking about. the original Adama had it way easier than the re-imagined version.
That's why I made sure to say Bill Adama, to specify nuBSG's version

Re: Poll: Best Sci-Fi Captain of all time!

Its spelled "Sisko," with a K, not a C.

Also, I call shenanigans on not includin' first names for all the characters, callin' Solo a captain, or includin' Jack from SG-1, since he didn't really command a ship, just a team.

My faves:

Shatner's James T. Kirk
Babylon 5's Commander Sinclair and Captain Sheridan
Stargate's Colonel Jack O'Neill

Still, Kirk takes the prize.

The Doctor is not really a captain but I can't resist voting for him anyway. Otherwise, I'd go with Picard.

I'm a bit out of touch with Sci Fi. I have recently gotten back into it because of my kids, who are now becoming Star Trek fans. Could you please state where all the captains are from in your list, and maybe we can create a new poll that's more comprehsensive.
Okey dokey.

Captain Larry Dart - Space Patrol
Colonel Steve Zodiac - Fireball XL5
Captain Troy Tempest - Stingray
Commander Ed Straker - UFO
Captain Podley - Space Precinct
Captain Thrice - Lavender Castle
Commander Nathan Spring - Star Cops
Supreme Commander Servalan - Blakes 7
Doctor Benn - Star Fleet (X Bomber)

(Captain Scarlet) - actually in retrospect, it would be better to replace him on the list with his commanding officer, Colonel White (Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons)
Commander Ed Straker - UFO

Solo wasn't a captain? It was the first thing he said!

ETA: Colonel Dan Dare.

Best Sci-Fi Captain/Commander? Pffft. That's Ace Rimmer*. (Red Dwarf)

Also, I can't believe no one's mentioned Commander John Crichton (Farscape) yet...

Well, that's because Dargo is the captain of Moya.
