RIP, Joan Fontaine.

Hell of a week for Hollywood. One of the last greats of old Hollywood is gone. Oscar winner for Suspicion, and younger sister of Olivia de Havilland (who outlives her).

She starred in my favorite Hitchcock movie (favorite classic movie, really), Rebecca.

Fontaine obit.

Also good in SUSPICION and GUNGA DIN.

Other nearly simultaneous passings this weekend include Tom Laughlin from BILLY JACK and Peter O'Toole from PROMETHEUS. Among other films.

I remember her from her last movie, The Witches (The Devil's Own in the USA). Sad to see her go.

Outside of Hitchcock, my favorite role of hers was in the feature film of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
