JJ Trek box office and disc grosses

I just had an annoying conversation with "purists" trying to re-write history about the financials of the JJ movies, well they continue to make money in a trickle on video, here are the latest totals for your amusement:

STID $542 MILLION gross. ST09 $579 MILLION.' STID is up $3 million since last I looked, ST09 $2 million. That's $1.121 billion. Setting the record straight...would Paramount greenlight a 3rd movie if it lost money???? What idiots!

More of a blog entry than a thread-starter. At least this conversation with (self-described?) "purists" appears to have taken place somewhere other than TrekBBS, so there's no urgent reason to warn for calling them "idiots".

I really don't see this thread going much of anywhere useful, but a few suggestions:
I just had a conversation with people who appeared to be misrepresenting the financials of the JJ movies[period] [new sentence: capitalize] [W]ell[comma] they continue to make money in a trickle on video[period] [new sentence: capitalize] [H]ere are the latest totals:

STID $542 MILLION gross. ST09 $579 MILLION.' STID is up $3 million since last I looked, ST09 $2 million. That's $1.121 billion. Setting the record straightcolon would Paramount greenlight a 3rd movie if the first two had not been profitable? [Note: quadruple question mark/interrogation point is excessive and unnecessarily shouty. Just use one.]

RAMA [This is redundant. Everyone already knows it's you, as your name appears at the upper left of each post you make.]
It's still a blog entry and could stand further improvement, but the confrontational/adversarial aspect of the original is somewhat reduced.

Aaand thread closed.
