Did you even read the post? Bit too eager to play thought police there, I think.
I did read it all, yeah you did post something you liked but with a whole bunch of criticisms first

post what you like, I was just hoping to have just one thread without that kind of stuff, that's all

Threads around here (especially in VOY forum) seldom wind up as the OP intends.

Sure.. they are intertwined after all and if you're going to discuss the characters on the show, all aspects are going to come up. Conversations are living things and quite reactionary. For example our last few posts haven't had anything to do with the OP and very little with Voyager. I went into Voyager wanting to love it when it first came out, it just didn't deliver it to me. It wasn't the worst Trek series by any means, just disappointing. Heck I'm even thinking of coming around to saying I like it more than TOS, which would put it third on my list. The potential was all there after all, it just rarely lived up to the fullness of it.

If you don't like my opinions, that's fine. There's no right or wrong there after all. From what I've seen of your posts on this board though, I do almost think you're taking any criticism directed at Voyager more than a little personally. It's not. Instead of directing what I should or shouldn't be saying though, maybe comment on what you think about the substance of it, or direct the conversation somewhere else, instead of just saying "you should be posting about this and only this."

KaraBear...you want to keep it nice about Voyager, but then you deride the characters of DS9, so basically you want to have your Fancy Feast and eat it too...and I want to get mad...but I keep seeing that darn cute kitty avatar, and I just can't do it. You win, KaraBear.

Last week someone tried to admonish me for mentioning ENT in a VOY thread I had started. They failed to notice that I was responding to mention of Enterprise in the immediately previous comment. They just wanted to play forum police.

i'm not taking anything personally, it's just a tv show. But when someone says something I disagree with I will say so

I didn't deride them, I like them a lot, I just pointed out that I thought the voyager characters were more interesting. I didn't say anything negative about the characters

I thought Harry was a good character at the beginning when he was established as this sort of Starfleet nerd with somebody to impress. They started to use him as their 'suffer' character the way DS9 used O'Brien, and I liked him in Emanations and Non Sequitur.

Unfortunately the Voyager writers had no idea how to make a character interesting without a gimmick to exploit so he either kept getting 'sidekicked' or he got terrible episodes like Favorite Son that had nothing to do with his character.
Harry had a good premise, just like the other characters on the show. The problem was that the writers made him the "whipping boy" of the series, the guy who mostly is beaten up and/or the young, unexperienced kid who everybody feels sorry for. He's actually better in some of the books where he's doing something useful and where his computer skills are developed and used. Unfortunately, he has the bad luck of ending up in sickbay in many of them too, badly wounded and in some cases close to death.

But don't forget what the man, or more correctly, The Clown, said:

The spoil goes to the winner and you are the spoil, Harry!

By the way, am I one of the few who actually like "Favorite Son"? Harry ending up in a future version of Dracula's castle and manage to get out of there. Definitely better than the rather boring "Emanations".

Harry must have gotten stuck with all the leftover "O'Brien Must Suffer" ideas from DS9. Garrett rarely had the chance to shine as Colm Meaney did.

I've seen no evidence (not even in "Timeless") that Garrett Wang is anywhere near Colm Meaney's caliber.

Was it the amplest?

:: ponders ::
I didn't get a chance to compare ample samples. I liked the silver catsuit the most, the later darker ones weren't quite as revealing of her shape.

I was never sure though, if that was really Jeri's hair wrapped up on her head (I don't know anything about hairstyle nomenclature), or whether it was some sort of wig.
I guess I've never been a breast woman (this has just occurred to me). Though I'll admit I could not stop staring at Christina Hendricks during my recent Mad Men run through, which is probably the effect 7 had on some.

But, really... Jeri is flat-chested next to Christina Hendricks...

I had to do a Google image search for Hendricks, as I've not seen her anything. Looks like she has a couple of Goodyear blimps in there.

Re: Things you liked about voyager

The only thing I disagreed with in Karabear's characterization of DS9 was that Voyager characters were more relatable because they had more flaws. DS9 characters were just as flawed as Voyager characters, just the DS9 writers knew how to write those flaws without making the entire episode just ABOUT those flaws.

It's true Wang is no Meaney, but he's way better than Beltran and a couple of the other Voyager actors. But he's considered one of the 'Boring ones' because of the scripts he got. The Voyager writers just had no idea how to write a character without just writing about their central gimmick.

MELAKON HAVE YOU NOT SEEN FIREFLY????????

I am very good at nagging people to watch Firefly..

Hendricks is even more stunning in Mad Men when you realize she is a very unique looking person. But I think she shares some qualities with Jeri Ryan, the big eyes, the composure.. lovely. Striking.

When I saw Jeri Ryan at a con things were.. less visible.
