But not on purpose, surely? I got the impression that it took itself [way too] very seriously.
For a Superman movie, perhaps. Compared to Nolan's Batman... That's an entirely different story. TDK doesn't even feel like a comic book movie most of the time. It's basically a character driven crime drama with thrilling action sequences.
I agree. I love all three films even though I have pacing issues with them.

I have often thought that Batman would be great on television as a serious, crime-detective series--a less formulaic CSI style show. Even with the villains, it could easily be done effectively on a television budget.

I enjoy Arrow, but it is still not the Batman series I`ve always wanted.

Three new cast members, including graduates of 300, The Wolverine and, perhaps most surprisingly, Oscar winner Holly Hunter. http://m.deadline.com/2014/04/batman...medium=twitter

I kinda hope Holly Hunter is playing Leslie Thompkins, although she's a bit young for the role.

As long as she's not playing "crazy, grey-haired lady". Seems to be her favorite role as of late.

Superman vs Thor, that would be pretty cool. Can't they just do that in their spare time with a little fundraiser, like all the Trek actors get together to do their Trek fan films?

But Harrison Ford's answer is the best one.

Bat In The Sun did a Super Power Beat Down, Superman vs Thor. They do amazing stuff with practically no budget. Imagine what could be done with big money.

Sounds more like fan speculation than anything solid.

^Probably. But Latino Review is usually good on these things and has a track record on DC films in particular, as I recall.

Wait a minute, though. Leslie Thompkins is the woman who found Bruce after his parents were killed and, in some versions, became a surrogate mother of sorts to him. She's supposed to be a generation or two older than Bruce. But Holly Hunter is only 15 years older than Ben Affleck. Is she going to appear in flashbacks? Is there going to be room for flashbacks to Bruce's childhood in a Superman/Batman crossover movie? Track record or not, this sounds questionable.

Fair point, though the ages of the actors in MOS were all over the place too. IIRC, jonathan Kent was supposed to be in his 40s but was played by a nearly-60 Kevin Costner, while Amy Adams is 6 years older than Henry Cavill and 9 years younger than Diane Lane. So the age disparity wouldn't mean an awful lot (don't forget that women often play older in Hollywood - in Blow, Rachel Griffiths played the mother of Johnnny Depp, who is older than her.

It really baffled me to see Diana Lane play a grey haired Martha Kent

Sean Connery is 12 years older than Harrison Ford, yet played his father in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. That sort of thing isn't uncommon. Latino Review is about 50/50 in their scoops turning out to be true, though, so we'll see what happens.

Re: ‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

It occurs to me after thinking about this discussion that while there was a 41 year age gap between Christian Bale and Michael Caine, the gap between Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons is only 24 years. Not particularly relevant to the Hunter discussion but I thought it interesting that this film has a much narrower gap than the Nolan ones (the gap in Gotham is about 37 years, IIRC).

Occurs also, in the Useless Trivia department, that this film will have two actresses with alliterative names (Amy Adams and Holly Hunter). Very comic-bookish!
