Original Trek fans objected to "TOS" for ages (I was there, go ahead and argue the point).
No argument from me. I was there too. I thought STC and STA were well-established. Suddenly allegiances shifted, and it was TOS and TAS. And now even CBS and Pocket Books use "The Original Series" in their marketing.

Some of you are putting way, way too much time into thinking this out. Of all the ridiculous minutiae to obsess over.... i mean for crying out loud! I'd suggest telling you guys to all go out and get laid or something, but then I remember the crowd I'm talking to.

Lighten the fuck up.
Physician, heal thyself. This is a complete overreaction to what's being discussed here. There's some nitpicking at worst, no drama.

Re: What does 'nu' mean?

Why does Star Trek have such a stigma?

Because of people like you...
Sometimes, Christopher, the best way to get an idea is to stop thinking about it...
Let it rest for a while and maybe a nice acronym might pop up in your head when you least expect it...

Only Star Trek fans could get so heated about what to call the damn thing. Call it whatever the hell you want, as long as other people know what you're talking about.
Huh? Who's "heated?" This is just an idle exercise in speculation and curiosity. It's an intellectual musing, not an emotional issue.

But this is a discussion board. I was trying to generate a topic for discussion.

Again, why are people assuming I'm looking for an acronym? I'm looking for an actual name. The shorthand would be easy enough to derive afterward, and is thus an incidental concern.

How about "The Verse of Abrams"? has a nice biblical sound to it.

How about "Star Trek Fractured Universe"?

I think STFU has a nice ring to it.

That would be the name of the inevitable anime spinoff.
