Proverbs and metaphors

An appeal (okay, a rant) to the Star Trek book editors at Pocket Books: Please tell your authors not to use words like "proverbial" and "metaphorical" with every proverb and metaphor. Perhaps they think that by doing so they are making these expressions sound less cliché. Well, I'm afraid it does just the opposite.
