Yeah, I don't care for it either. Like other episodes such as "Family" from TNG, I just don't care for the "down-to-earth" drama episodes. I like sci-fi in my Trek. But, that's just my preference--if it's an episode many love and respect--great!

You guys are crazy. It is CLASSIC sci-fi. It is meta. it is DS9 amazing. It shows us all our faves in different roles. It hints that all DS9 (and trek by extension) is a dream in the mind of a sci-fi writer, which IT WAS until Roddenberry made it a reality! It is a great great great bit of sci fi television, right up there with the greatest eps of Twilight Zone.

I LOVE IT!

I love how 'Martok' was this jovial Santa Claus-like artist.
Not to mention that Martok's actor also played Sisko's Vulcan captain in the pilot...

And seemed unusally emotional for a Vulcan. I remember him screaming just before he died.

not really. he seemed to me like he was just raising his voice so his crew could hear him over all the ruckus. Then an explosion hit the back of his head and he died

I think my main problem is that it just does'nt connect or add anything to the dominion war or DS9 in General narrative.

^ It did get a follow-up in "Shadows and Symbols" which was pretty important in helping Sisko find the lost orb.

And maybe his scream (if there was one) was just because he was in pain?

I think he was killed instantly. The screaming came before he was hit.

Raising your voice to be heard in a noisy environment isn't an emotion.

Agreed, and neither is screaming in pain for a half second as an explosion hits the back of your head.
