A black or brown Doctor walking around freely throughout history really isn't that unrealistic. He is generally well dressed, well spoken, has the proper paperwork to be whatever he needs to be and speaks with enough authority to make just about anyone think twice about just arresting him and tossing him shackles. There are a few particular points in history he might want to be extra careful in, but I'd imagine being white would have its downfalls in certain times and places too. Unless he pulls off the "I am the harbinger of your god" maneuver every time he runs into a pre-colonial non-european society I should think most of history is actually just as dangerous as a white man.
I agree with you 100%, I'm just saying the folks who complained and were racially offended by 10's advice to Martha can't justify a Black Doctor due to that exact same complaint for the Doctor

Re: Matt Smith's Departure Confirmed.

I know these people will never play the doctor but I've seen post's for Robert Bathurst which may have been interesting and Helena Bonham Carter who i think would have made a great female doctor.

Only if Laura Carmichael plays his companion.

Seriously, though, I could see Robert Bathurst in the TARDIS.

Makes me wonder if Matt wanted to do it but then changed his mind.
It really sounded until very recently like Smith was planning on staying on awhile longer. He's been working with Tennant on the special recently, wonder if the inevitable conversation came up about "how do you know it's time to quit?" Tennant left at the height of his popularity. He may have given Smith some good advice about not wearing out the role.
Looking forward to the next pick. Cast my vote for Alexander Siddig. His recent film work such as Cairo Time has been excellent.

If so, it would have been the same advice Peter Davison gave Tennant during "Time Crash", which Patrick Troughton gave him ages ago during "The Five Doctors": "Don't stay longer than three years. Don't get typecast. Leave your fans wanting more, don't give them a chance to get tired of you."

So this is all your fault Mr Patrick Troughton? I forgive you. :P

Could explain where Strallan went after the wedding.

At the risk of sounding sexist (which I am not in any way), I'd rather see a male doctor than a female, just for preference.

Also, Doctor Who will always have the best episode title ever:

"Let's Kill Hitler"

While Troughton gave Davison that advice, it was long before the filming of "The Five Doctors." Davison had already announced his intention to leave and Colin Baker had already been cast, which is why Maxil (Colin Baker's other Doctor Who character) was dropped from the script.

Re: Matt Smith's Departure Confirmed.

I wonder if Matt got advice from some of the other actors who played the doctor. Or he wants to be able to do other projects while he is popular. Is the acting community the same over there as it is here. Where as you get older you get called less for parts. (never understood that, some of the young actors now are a bit crap in my opinion).

Re: Matt Smith's Departure Confirmed.

Bleeding Cool runs down the candidates for the next Doctor. I'm not sure of their sources, but they say the actor has been cast since January.

Re: Matt Smith's Departure Confirmed.

Why do they always mention female doctors. If he has been regenerating 11 times as a male. I don't think he is going to all the sudden change his mind. Then again who knows.

There's actually another very logical possibility for a couple of reasons, but I'm not going to say it cos it'd be a spoiler for another show...

So if Hurts Doctor turns out to be an actual unknown regeneration does that mean we will be on to the last regeneration then?
