It always gives me a chuckle when I remember that this rousing patriotic speech was given by a Canadian!

Maybe the message comes across a little clearer when it's from someone on the outside looking in.

I think Star Trek warped me as a child instilling in me an idealism I'd probably have been better served without. Sure hasn't been a very ideal world.

But, we're getting there. We've come a long way since the Middle Ages, but we'll probably need quite a few centuries more to get to a UFP collective frame of mind.
