The Rings of Tautee and "True Q"

I just purchased a handful of used TOS numbered novels, including The Rings of Tautee. Coincidentally, today I watched the episode "True Q", and one of the enticements Q offers Amanda is the opportunity to "walk along the rings of Tautee."

I pulled out Voyages of the Imagination to see if it suggested any connection, but Dean Wesley Smith admitted to not remembering anything about the writing of this one.

Did the authors pull the reference for the title from this episode? Or is there another reference to the rings of Tautee somewhere in the Trekiverse? Having struck out with Google and VotI, I beseech the font of all Treklit knowledge.
This is our small proof, not only that things can be done differently in this business, but that the greatest expression of rebellion is joy.

Apparently, they were referred to in the episode script as "the rings of Tautine." My best guess is that Smith or Rusch remembered the reference, consciously or otherwise, but was going by sound and didn't know how it was spelled.
