Favorite Albums Ever...

Okay, I don't want the best like we're doing an AFI list of the greatest albums, just ones that you wore out the tape or the CD playing. Soundtrack of your life type albums.

Here's my list to get us started:
Jewel: Pieces of You
Green Day: Dookie
Alanis Morissette: Jagged Little Pill
Wallflowers: Bringing Down the Horse
Garth Brooks: Fresh Horses
Garth Brooks: Sevens
Boyz II Men: II
Aerosmith: Get a Grip
Lauryn Hill: The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Alicia Keys: Songs in A Minor
Christina Aguilera: Stripped
Leann Rimes: Family
Sugarland: Love on the Inside

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Heavy Metal - The soundtrack
Synchronicity - The Police
Rumors - Fleetwood Mac
Pyromania - Def Lepard
The Mummer's Dance - Lorenna McKennit
Business as Usual - Men at Work
Planet P Project - Planet P

I listen more to mixes of songs than I do albums. The "mix tape" is a lost art.

Re: Favorite Albums Ever...

I limited it to my favorite album per artist, from my favorite go-to shelf, in no particular order:

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
I Robot - The Alan Parsons Project
Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones
In Through the Out Door - Led Zeppelin
Star Wars: A New Hope - John Williams
"Melt" - Peter Gabriel
Slave to the Rhythm - Grace Jones
Cosmic Thing - B-52's
Changesonebowie - David Bowie
Switched-On Bach - Wendy Carlos

I agree that the "mix tape" is where it's at. I have a ton of singles that are favorites, too.

News of the World - Queen
Tiny Music Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop - Stone Temple Pilots
Chavez Ravine - Ry Cooder
Yield - Pearl Jam
Laughing on Judgement Day - Thunder
The Second Coming - Stone Roses
1965 - Afghan Whigs

Special mention to The Archandroid by Janelle Monae. Not old enough to be a soundtrack to my life, but I feel it will be at that status another 2 decades. I have already listened to it more than any other album in the last couple of years.

I hate mix tapes. An album is an art. A good one should not be split up.

Re: Favorite Albums Ever...

^ Based on our prior convos, you should check out the Thunder album in my list Australis, I reckon it would be right up your street. Make sure it's that one though, it's their best by far. I think they actually did a tour supporting BCC.

Got Afterglow a few days back btw. Quality stuff.
