I just saw this poster on SHH. Is it for real or just another fan-made one?

It's totally real. Before even announcing the return of the Big 3, they've decided to let everyone know that they're ripping off the beginning of the first Kevin Anderson book.

I really hope you're being sarcastic as opposed to a drama queen...

For anyone who doesn't know, that's a fanmade poster. You can find it on DeviantArt.

Re: John Williams to Score Star Wars Episode VII

The best tracks Williams did for Star Wars were copied almost beat for beat from Mussorgsky and other composers. George Lucas discussed in a few interviews over the years how he would write scenes to music then get John Williams to compose a track that evoked the same emotions. e.g. Duel of the Fates is just a remix of O Fortuna by Carl Orff.

If Abrams uses the same technique to score his film any composer will do.

^^^I'm sorry but Duel of the Fates simply is not a remix of O Fortuna. If you're going to use "remix" so loosely? I could just as easily say Duel of the Fates is a mashup of Rimsky-Korsakov, namely Russian Easter Overture and Flight of the Bumblebee. Also, a better candidate for remix of O Fortuna would be in James Horner's Glory score, right before they charge Fort Wagner.

Yeah!!!!!!!! John Williams is the best!

..not in a very long time. Most of his scores from the prequels was not the kind of music one had to listen to again and again, like the original trilogy scores.

Well, Episode VII definately doesn't deserve John Williams, but atleast the movie will have atleast one thing going for it (not that it will really help, considering all the thigns it has going against it, but anything positive about the movie at this point is good news).
Let me guess, Just like Man of Steel you already hate Star Wars VII and know it is going to suck?

Unless Hollywood has a complete sea change and does a 180 degree turn on the formula they use for making blockbuster summer action flicks, then it's not hard to know in advance that a film is going to suck. If it's a major blockbuster film, the answer is yes.

I take it then that you do not like summer blockbuster films?

Interesting. If you said around 25-30 years ago summer blockbusters were better I would agree with you. But I think in the last few years they are much better than about 10 years.

I like them. To me they're mindless fun escapism.

Am I the only one who would rather see a blu ray release of the Original Unaltered Trilogy than the release of another not really necessary film trilogy?

The music did fit the prequels, though.

With other material he does better scores.

Fantastic news!!!

And thank the Maker it wasn't Michael Giacchino.

As someone who did, in fact, listen to those scores repeatedly, I wholeheartedly disagree.

Re: John Williams to Score Star Wars Episode VII

Episodes IV and V are the high-mark of Star Wars scoring, but Episode I is great, and Episode II has its moments. Episode III, on the other hand, is the only one I've never gotten around to buying on CD.

If Williams can't do it, they can just get Ken Thorne in.
