I think I liked it even more my third time. But then, that probably had a lot to do with my group of friends, I don't know.
Agree. My fourth viewing today with three friends who had stayed totally spoiler-free. We all had a really great time, and they were shocked when I told them, after the show, that a small but loud sector of fandom was very angry/disappointed.

The tear-jerker bits get more intense each time!

saw it again tonight.... much bigger audience this time.. at least 2/3 full in a big Imax theater.
I saw it in IMAX again this morning - and they handed out small posters! I also bought the movie cup sans drink. Might see it again tomorrow morning before the ballgame.
The crowd was big enough that by the time I got there, the posters were all gone! I enjoyed the movie even more the second time. Tuesday will likely be my final time Imax or otherwise.

Well in terms UK takings the best figure I could find was upto the end of the 2nd weekend. With a UK taking of GB£15.5m which is something like US$23m or around 2/3rds of ST (2009) UK Box Office haul.

The good news is that STID is making more overseas compared to ST09. Paramount will look at this when they consider a sequel.

I must admit, though, I find it frustrating seeing this movie limp along to 200 million, when films like Iron Man 3 almost effortlessly swoop ahead to over 1 billion worldwide.

I realise Trek is more of a cult success than a bonafide box office sensation, but still it is frustrating.

I think the final overseas take will be significantly better than Trek 09, which is great news.

I know how you feel, it is indeed frustrating...

On the other hand, I was watching Nemesis in the theatre in 2002, and even though I do like the film, I remember feeling like: man, this film feels so small, so low-budget, it's no wonder a film like this will never make 200 million like so many blockbusters at the time... If someone had told me back than that in 7 years, ST would be back with 150-190 million budget films, making 200+ million in the US, etc., etc., I would not have believed it...

Yes, the TNG movies were done on the cheap. They were like elongated TV episodes, for the most part. They cut a lot of corners. I'm glad we now have Trek as a serious box office entity, with huge budgets.

So far the early estimates are $47 million for the 4 day weekend. Hopefully more numbers later today.

Re: STID "tracking" for $85-90 million opening [U.S. box office]

From ERC on Twitter:

STAR TREK: ID beamed up another $13.1M overseas for a total of $102.1M. China and Korea drop next weekend.
From BoxOffice.com on Twitter:

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS: $38.0M 3-Day Weekend (est) / $146.83M Domestic Total / 3,907 Locations / $9,726 Location Avg. #StarTrekIntoDarkness
With this second weekend hold I think STiD could end up at $225-235 million domestic, maybe $240 million at a push, depending on how strong the third weekend is.

My friends trekkers. We are on the second weekend of STID premiere in IMAX/3D in Brazil. More than 20 theatres, all crowded, I repeat, all crowded. Completely successful. Paramount found that there are many Brazilians who love the franchise (a little late). I am very happy. I belive the box office will reach 200% increase. The movie realese in 2D format day 14th june.

Agreed. However is that foreign number for all of the markets it is in release or for a handful. Seems a little low given how it did last week.

Nevermind... I just noticed it has only been released in 15 overseas markets and most of those are in their 3rd week of release. Number of big countries still to come up.

Re: STID "tracking" for $85-90 million opening [U.S. box office]

From Box Office Mojo:

Friday - $10,001,000
Saturday - $14,420,000
Sunday - $13,579,000

According to the estimates STiD was a very close #3 on Saturday and went up to #2 on Sunday.
