(Edit: It was a little out of season, though. November 25th, but but broadcast in April in broad daylight. I wonder if it was originally meant to air last year.)
Maybe. November 25th last year was a Sunday, but if the season had aired as one long season, starting from Asylum Of The Daleks on September 1st, Hide would have aired on October 22nd.

I'm not sure I like the Tardis Avatar thingy because you then get into why we don't see it more often?

or.. will be that part of this Tardis-thingy relationship they have going on?

I really liked that, it was genuinely scary for a while ! I'd have liked it more if I hadn't read the short story 'The Man Who Walked Home' by James Tiptree Jr. or seen the 1963 version of 'The Haunting' though.

Both are excellent by the way...

I enjoyed it, true there were moments were it did dip a little, but overall I think this was the best episode we've had since the season restarted at Easter.

Between good and mediocre for me. I voted the former because I felt generous. A good and interesting story with lots of excitement. I loved the haunted forest set design and the 70s setting. I could have done with a little less of the love story but the twist at the end with the love story between the two monsters was a great and funny idea. It wouldn't have worked without the other love story.
One thing that bugged me though was that the professor seemed too young to have been involved in WWII the way he was supposed to have been. This would have worked better if it had been set in the 60s but then it wouldn't have been the shout-out to the 3rd Doctor it was supposed to be.
Speaking of which, I didn't feel quite as dragged in by the story as I should have been because a voice in my mind kept saying, "wrong Doctor!" and I kept wondering how the story would have played out if it had been the Third Doctor instead of Eleven.

First mention of the Eye of Harmony (and use of it) since the TV movie!
I seem to have missed that.

Well in this case, maybe it could be suggesting that the 50th anniversary will see the return of the 8th doctor as well as what I mentioned in my other post.
I'd heard the Eye of Harmony appears in next week's episode.
Ah, cool.

Also, mind you, it does prove that Neil Cross, who wrote The Rings Of Akhaten, which was fucking fantastic, has a good range in DW
I think both of his episodes have annoying ham-fisted power of love endings that spoil them significantly.

I agree. To me, his two episodes along with that stupid cowboy western one were the worst episodes in series 7. After two of his episodes being pretty bad, I hope he never goes near doctor who again.

I thought it was excellent. Good atmosphere, annoying pronunciation of Metebelis aside it was highly entertaining.

The prof's age is ok-ish (apologies for typos, posting from phone). Dougray scott is late 40s, if prof was studenr co-opted into war at 18 he'd be about 50 in 1974. Butmaybe looking a bit youngger...

I'm still processing that, think I need another viewing. At the very least, it was trying to do something different. Certainly had some atmosphere and even tension though, probably the eeriest episode since Midnight. Very cool visually.

Bonus points for low sonic abuse.

Momentarily fun. Third act, after the momentary confusion and amusement, is more tasteless in retrospect than Victory of the Daleks, that was a figure of speech, Victory has a great balance, and somehow even blander too, with the romance having only the 'depth' of Blink yet a total lack of gravitas. Good story told badly. First act what little it had was kind of great with the character dynamics and how it all looked.

Clara went a bit wrong with the long snarky comment in the first act that I forgot, and the cow comment however amusing.

I may hate Clara.

"Ghostbusters!"

I may hate her a lot.

So was this episode made before or after they decided to splice NuWho with Call the Midwife for red nose day?

They must have been trolling us with that line because all I could think about was that horrific 10 / Rose scene

I quite liked that. Properly creepy monster that didn't turn out to be CGI for a change. So good suspenseful moments, a bit of added mystery to the Doctor, and for once, guest characters I actually gave a damn about.

Nice to see the shows back on track. I was worried for awhile there.
