^ See what I mean? This is the post of someone who has no actual response to valid counterpoints of the book by which he claims to abide. When all else fails, it is easier to hide in one's shell and deny, deny, deny. Fingers in the ears are the order of the day. If one doesn't listen, one doesn't don't have to acknowledge the giant holes in your stated theology. So I have an emotional response of my own.

After all, he's just a poor Christian (forgiven!) trying to live in a sinner's world. Why be so harsh to him? All he wants is for you to acknowledge that his god is the only one, true god (out of billions of possible incarnations), and that all of you are living an abomination destined for the roasting, sulfuric, skin burning, agonizing, body consuming, soul torturing, eternity of hellfire. All he wants you to know is that God loves you, and for you to accept His love freely (if you say no, or insist on proof, you will burn in hell for eternity)! Doesn't that say love to you?!

Come on! Tell the gays to go take their perversion somewhere else! Tell them that they're evil, wicked, demonically possessed pawns of Satan! God loves them but he wants them to burn in hellfire if they won't turn against their Biblically unnatural (but totally natural in nature) ways! God loves you! Die in a fire!

Can't you see he only wants your love, unconditional service, and willingness to hate others on the word of others in power who coincidentally make a great deal of fame and fortune from this supposed disease around the world?! WHY DO YOU PERSECUTE THIS POOR MAN?! HE ONLY WANTS TO DICTATE HOW YOU LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS ILL INFORMED BELIEFS!! BY GETTING ANGRY WITH HIM YOU GET ANGRY WITH JESUS! WHY DO YOU HATE BRENT'S WORDS (AND BY EXTENSION JESUS') SO MUCH?!

THIS IS JUST LIKE THE PERSECUTION IN CHINA EXCEPT FOR THE KILLING, SILENCING, OPPRESSION, AND IMPRISONMENT! THESE PEOPLE DISAGREE WITH ME! JESUS IT'S LIKE I'M CARRYING YOUR CROSS! SAVE ME JESUS!

You don't get to be in charge unless you're opinionated, and you don't get to be in charge of the Catholics unless you're really opinionated.

King Solomon had 500 wives.

I believe he was very in charge for a few years.

The split between the Jews and the Muslims is because Abraham's wives wouldn't get along, and God was heavily putting his thumb on the scales with that one.

Marriage pre-dates Christianity. It is not yours to "define".
You're right, it's Gods, I never said it was mine to define. He defined it, the creator of you, the one who made all of us, the one who created marriage in the first place, has defined it. I'm certainly not the one that's going to go up against that. He is the only one with the authority to define and judge marriage. He has a plan for marriage, and the Bible describes it quite well. So I'm going with God on this topic.
Alright, I'll rephrase - marriage pre-dates God.

Marriage can exist quite easily without anyone believing in God.

Yay France! Joining New Zealand and 12 other countries in legalizing gay marriage. Their law also legalizes adoption by gay couples. Good on them!

Of course, we make the choice to follow his laws, or not, that is the choice we must all make. It isn't about religion, or denomination, or any of that crap, it's about faith, it's about your choice to follow Gods laws. I'm not going to make anyone do anything they don't want to do, choice is yours.
If this is the right way to deal with things -to let people make their own choices, as God intended- then why the fight against marriage equality? Why the fight to enshrine in law prohibitions against what God wants me to decide on my own?

And if God wants us to make these choices for ourselves, why is it sad that these countries are allowing people to do so? Shouldn't it be a good thing?

Because, like so many other fundamentalists, he can't tolerate your making your own decisions without deferring to his god's religious authority. When they make statements like "God gave us free will," the implied predicate is "to choose him and no one else."

It is difficult to deal with a moral bigot, because such a person will always find themselves on the "right" side, regardless of how harmful it is to your life and liberty. Remember, he's saving you from yourself. Your evil, perverted, 'affront to god' self.

These are the types who can't wait to see their god's judgment. They spew false words of love, faith, compassion, and free will, but their ears itch to hear the damning words from their messiah cast you into eternal torment, because it will prove them right. Don't let them fool you. Fundamentalists have no interest in an aspiring humanity, they want to be proven right; and you either have to come to them hat in hand saying they were right, or pay for your sin of disagreeing with them. This is how their god thinks, because this is how they think. This is what they want. They accept this, they put a name on it, and they worship it. That is the hallmark of a fundamentalist; a bigot.

Bumping for the sake of sharing this awesome essay, written by a child, on why gay people should be able to get married.

Look, Brent, a 4th grader gets it! Can you?

Re: New Zealand legalises same-sex marriage

Indeed, and it just shows that the strong wave of homophobia, at least in this country, is going to die out, because it's largest focus is in the older demographic. Young children, and teenagers, are realizing that it's not right to treat others as second class citizens, regardless of the reason, and they will grow up more open minded.

Kudos to that child. Well said.
