The Saint revamp

Here is an exclusive first look at Adam Rayner as Simon Templar. Rayner and Eliza Dushku topline the latest take on Leslie Charteris’ 70-book The Saint franchise. The backdoor pilot was directed by Simon West from a script by Jesse Alexander.

What do we think? Looks fairly generic.

I like the bits of original Saint music cues and loved seeing Roger Moore. It looks like Patricia will be more than moral support and damsel in distress, which is nice. I'm interested to see what they do with the family aspect.

I'll definitely give it a look.

I plan on watching this as well. I have no doubt it'll get picked up somewhere.

Saw this on Facebook yesterday. I think it looks great. That said, it's just a trailer, so the proof will be when the whole show airs...

Recast the lead, otherwise it looks like fun.

It was great to see Moore, but I also enjoyed seeing Ian Ogilvy. I had quite a schoolgirl crush on him during the (short) run of Return of the Saint. I have no idea if he can actually act, but I have good memories of enjoying the series!

I'll give this a chance.

Re: The Saint revamp

I thought it looked promising. Better than the Val Kilmer version and the boring as hell tv show from about 25 years ago (with Simon Dutton). I like the character and I don't think he's been done justice for a loooooong time, so I'm more than willing to give this a chance. I thought the leading man seemed perfectly cast for the role.

Dushku in a bikini alone would be worth the price of admission but seeing Moore and Ogilvy (whose version of the character is the first I saw) was a bonus. I hope it gets picked up.

That actually looks like a lot of fun, and yeah count me in as someone else for whom Ogilvy is my Saint, even used to have a toy white XJS as a kid

Rayner actually looks a lot better in this than he was in Hunted.

Re: The Saint revamp

I'll watch but it had that cheap production feel -it's hard for an actor to step into an iconic role, despite Moore's blessing

^Of course, Moore wasn't the original Saint; Louis Hayward, George Sanders and Hugh Sinclair played him in movies long before Rog did.

I didn't think the production looked cheap, whatever else about it.

Oooh, this could be good. Though as usual, they swap suave for action scenes. This is why I loved The Saint so much, because not every scene was a punchup. Sure there were a few, but it wasn't the main theme.

^It could be that they've emphasised the action in the trailer in order to sell it. The show doesn't yet have a channel. Action sells. But the show itself might take a different direction.
