God watching B.J. Upton hit is painful. He's at the point now where he is going down on three straight pitches. I'm about ready to give Jordan Schafer some more playing time.
Not to pat myself on the back (well, okay, maybe a little bit), but this is what I had to say about the Upton signing after it happened:

That's not as awful of an overpay as I was expecting, but it's still going out on a pretty creaky limb. I would not want to be locking up a guy that's very much living on the edge of total collapse for five years. I guess if you want to believe that there's also some chance Upton will ever play back to 2007, he's a high risk / high reward guy, but he feels more like a high risk / medium reward guy, and at that type of commitment I'd rather just sign Josh Hamilton.

Or, put another way, B.J. Upton swing percentage on pitches outside of the zone by year:

2008: 15.0%
2009: 19.6%
2010: 25.3%
2011: 27.2%
2012: 32.7%

And the walk and K rates are catching up to that.
I might be looking at this from a weird point of view but it seems to me that BJ has a bunch of chips on his shoulders.

Oy! Another blown save by Krimbel. Reds win with back to back HRs, the latter being a Walk Off.

Matt Harvey took a perfect game into the 7th. Probably his best start all year. Bloody Alex Rios broke it up...

Oh well. Walk-off wins are also nice. Put THAT on the board, Hawk.

I find Hawk to be quite possibly the most annoying announcer ever.

F.P. Santangelo and his cohort are insufferable with the Nationals, who are making a case to be one of the most annoying bandwagoning fanbases in all of baseball. These guys throw absolute fanlike temper tantrums when they don't get a call and they constantly say stuff like "Wow, Gio isn't getting that call."

Sterling's no picnic, but at least he doesn't 1) believe himself to be on the team, and 2) insult the opposing team.

Re: MLB Season Discussion - 2013

Mostly fair. Although couldn't be more of a homer if they zoomed out and he had on Yankees footie-pajamas...

How many hours do you think he spends in the offseason standing in front of a mirror with a tape recorder trying to come up with and perfect his douchy home run calls for the new Yankees each year? If I put the over/under at 5, could you safely take the under? Doubt it. And do you honestly think that doesn't happen?

What a clown.

Like Chris Berman on ESPN. Just STFU and stop trying to make yourself part of the story...

Just like the Red Sox Nation and the Phillies "Phans". Wasn't too long ago the Nats were begging people to come to their ballpark.

Hope he's OK. That was a wicked shot he took. The Blue Jays are dropping like flies so far.
