ENTER media av contest: Famous/Favourite Paintings, past or current

These contests work in mysterious ways...it seems I came out "on top" of a 3 way tie!

So, the topic this time is Famous (or favourite) paintings. They can be works of art from old masters or contemporary artists. Any style or subject is fine.

My entry is Shadow of the Rainforest by Robert Bateman:

I look forward to seeing people's choices!

The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer ~1665

Very understated yet captivating.

I chose this because it has been in my family's home since I was a kid.

This painting is from the era that I grew up in and has great personal meaning to me on many levels.

Norman Rockwell, 1964.

^^ Nice. That was one of the first ones I thought of. I purely love Van Gogh.

OK, this one isn't my favorite, but it's certainly an iconic image.

I've loved this one ever since I saw a picture of it in a children's book when I was younger:

The Death of Marat by Jacques-Louis David (1793)

I'm going to have a difficult time voting; I love art!
